 PBS&J Awarded U.S. Green Building Council AwardThe Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council awarded PBS&J's Sustainable Building Design Group the 2010 LEEDership Commercial Interior "Project of the Year" award. The award recognizes the group's design for PBS&J's new corporate headquarters in Tampa, FL. The award recently was accepted on PBS&J's behalf by Vince Briones, PE, LEED AP, CPMP, and Kimberly Walton, EI, LEED AP, at the annual U.S. Green Building Council Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, Smart Sustainable conference held in Tampa recently. It is time for the annual Western Chapter Board of Directors election. Three full term (3-year) Director Positions are open and committed candidates are needed to run for election. If you wish to nominate a Western Chapter member to run for a Board position, who has been an active member for at least one year, please send your nomination by June 23, 2010. Scholarship Announcement - Applications Due July 1 The Chaper aims to provide two tuition scholarships of $2,500 per year, in addition to mentoring, for continuing junior, senior or graduate school level students with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the erosion and sediment control profession who are enrolled in a related degree-program at an accredited 4-year college or university. The Western Chapter will assign a mentor to each scholarship recipient to act as a professional resource to the applicant. Application Requirements: Interested students may download both Scholarship Application forms and Letter of Recommendation forms from the Western Chapter-IECA website www.wcieca.org or contact Cyndi Brinkhurst at (530) 272-2407 or at westernchapter@gmail.com.
