Colorado State University Awarded $1.7 Million to  Design Levee Overtopping Facility in Wake of Hurricane Katrina IECA member Chris Thornton, a Colorado State University researcher (pictured right), landed $1.7 million from the U.S Army Corps of Engineers to design
and build one of the world's largest wave overtopping simulators. Thornton will design
and construct a 28-foot-tall by 7-foot-wide tower and control mechanism

Award Profile Products LLC has announced that its manufacturing facility in Blue
Mountain, Miss. was recognized by the Tippah County Development Foundation as
the Industry of the Year. The award was presented to Profile's CEO John Schoch
and Plant Manager Dwight Schipke at a banquet honoring Tippah County local

KriStar to Distribute SorbtiveMEDIA: Innovative Filtration Media to Remove Dissolved Phosphorus from
Stormwater Imbrium Systems
Corp. and KriStar Enterprises Inc. announced today that Kristar has become a
distributor of Imbrium's SorbtiveMEDIA, the breakthrough oxide-coated media
that removes dissolved phosphorus from stormwater. Field tests show that SorbtiveMEDIA
captures 89% of sediment, 78% of Total Phosphorus (TP) and an unprecedented
44% of dissolved phosphorus. Phosphorus
is a major cause of algae blooms often resulting in low dissolved oxygen, fish

Northern Plains Chapter Hosts Workshop Jan. 28th in Winnipeg, MB, Canada Entitled Winter Erosion Control Practices: An Alaskan Experience with keynote speaker
Alex Zimmerman (pictured left), this
one-day workshop will cover design and inspection issues in very cold climates
as well as innovative erosion control designs when dealing with arctic

challenging remote and cold conditions in Alaska and what they do to overcome
those challenges," said Keith Porter
of Mid Canada Hydroseeding and IECA member for 10 years. "We have not had a
workshop in Manitoba for a couple years, so we are excited
to host this event," said Mark Myrowich, treasurer of the IECA Northern Plains
Chapter. The seating is limited, and there is
an early bird registration deadline of Dec. 23rd. For more
