Chapter Updates
 Planning Underway for China Erosion
Forum A group of professionals in China, led by Tony Chu, IECA's Ambassador to China,
has been busy planning the "Shenzhen Environmental Protection Industry
Development Forum." Also heavily involved in the effort is past IECA Board
President Doug Wimble, CPESC. IECA believes that the event can help generate
momentum and interest for a proposed Chapter in China.
The conference aims to bring together high
profile Chinese government officials and industry leaders to address China's
current erosion control issues. The conference will provide a venue for
industry in China and for IECA
members to introduce their technologies, products and services to the Chinese
government leaders addressing specific governmental projects in China.
The event originally was scheduled for
November 3 - 4, 2009 and is being postponed tentatively to May 2010. Due to the
delays caused by the Chinese national holiday (the 60th anniversary
celebration), a number of visitors are having problems getting their China
entry visa in time for the conference's original dates.
"Due to the 60th anniversary of
China's
Independence Day [which began October 1 for one week], the Chinese government
issued a number of temporary security measures. This created unavoidable
problems in obtaining visas for interested members who had registered for the
event. So we decided to postpone the conference until May 2010," explained Chu.
More information about the conference will
be published on the IECA website in the coming months. For more information about the event,
please contact: Tony Chu, IECA China Ambassador; Ph: +86 -138-1610-7501; Email: tony@ieca.org or past IECA President Doug Wimble at dougwimble@spraygrass.com.au.
