Learn how to Deepen Your 11th Step Practice

Centering Prayer is a method that has helped many of us in 12 Step recovery to deepen our 11th Step practice. When we stop our addiction, we still have adolescent urges regarding excessive needs for power, control, esteem, affection, approval, and security that cause us and others pain.  Hosted by Fr. Thomas Keating and Fr. Richard Rohr.

Issue: # 3
December/2007
Greetings!

Welcome to our December 11th Step Meditation Newsletter.

If there was ever a month that calls for meditation it must be December and the holiday madness.  The holidays bring up so much old stuff (emotional garbage) for us that this is a perfice time to begin or refocus your meditation practice!  We have ways to help included in this issue of the 11th Step Meditation newsletter.

I'll begin with a plug for the 11th Step Meditation CD that I produced - SpiritStep One Beginning Meditation: Relax and Let Go.  This was designed for the beginning meditator in recovery to teach and provide guided meditations in the language of recovery. This Take the 1st Step towards 11th Step Meditationlesson covers the 1st Step in learning meditation - that our minds and emotions are unmanageable and that we can learn meditation techniques and strategies to overcome these.

Give this SpiritStep One CD as a gift to all of your friends in recovery for the holidays! This is a gift that heals the receiver and the world at the same time.  Free shipping special for December. Order now at www.SpiritStep.com.

It is the sales of the SpiritStep CD that currently fund this newsletter, the www.11thStepMeditation.org site, development of the SpiritStep Two CD and efforts to provide meditation classes and tools to those in need.  I appreciate your support.

11th Step Holiday Meditation to
Sooth the Soul and Share the Love
The holiday season is upon us and it arrives into our lives carrying all of the baggage of Christmas' past, the increased stress of the present Christmas season and the fears and expectations of what the Christmas will, or should, be.  Wow, so much to deal with and so little time!

This time of year seems to create additional pressures for those of us in recovery. To help with this holiday season, I'd like to offer a simple 11th Step Meditation to help smooth out the emotional roller coaster ride, to provide a practical spiritual exercise to work Steps One, Two and Three, and to help you discover a more serene, loving holiday season this year.
