RCASA Family Dinner Day Survey Results

The results of the survey are full of great tips and permission to keep it simple!  67% of those that responded to the survey said they share family dinner day 5 or more x's per week; 30% 3 or more x's per week; and 3% 1 or more x's per week.

A favorite tradition shared by a survey respondent...

"We end every family dinner by going around the table and having each family member tell their day's low (the worst part of the day) and high (the best part of the day.) You get to really hear what everyone enjoys and what problems they are having. Also, everyone gets a chance to contribute. Often, one person's low or high leads to a deeper discussion. This is a take off on the tradition I had growing up of telling "what nice happened to you today.' It definitely is an important part of meal times for us."

Suggestions for dinner...

"Anything can happen for dinner since my husband and I are self employed. I learned from my mother to try and plan ahead; on Sunday I have time to cook a big meal like a roast chicken and then I have ingredients for the rest of the week to make chicken soup, stir fry and anything that takes less time."

A way to fit in family dinner was shared in the survey...

"If you want it to happen you can make it happen - often means eating after 7 but worth the wait - take advantage of it when you can."
