Putting People Power to Positive Use as Campaign Kicks Off About 330 employees from 35 Greater Nashua businesses lent their time and muscle on 52 projects for local non-profit organizations during United Way of Greater Nashua's 21st Annual Day of Caring on September 11. In a tremendous display of unity, our volunteers were among the 2,700 people mobilized by New Hampshire United Ways this month for Days of Caring. Collectively, Day of Caring volunteers in New Hampshire provided $388,800 of service!
When the projects wrapped up, UWGN treated volunteers to a barbecue at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church. The event also served as the official campaign kick-off. BAE Systems helped kick-start the campaign with a $10,000 donation through a corporate challenge, which also yielded a 40 percent increase in likes for UWGN's Facebook page. Nashua Mayor Donnalee Lozeau presented United Way's Max I. Silber Community Service Award to Rev. James S. Chaloner of the First Church of Nashua (see blog post for details about this and the rest of the day's events).
