United Way thanks supporters, volunteers with special evening
Representatives of Nashua-area companies and non-profit organizations, plus many individual donors and volunteers turned out on May 30 for United Way's "Evening at the United Common" - a Thank-You awards and networking event at the Nashua Country Club. Special recognition went to companies that display outstanding support of the community through fundraising, advocacy, and engagement efforts. 'UNITED WAY NIGHT' at Holman Stadium Make plans now to join United Way at Holman Stadium in Nashua the evening of July 26 for the Futures Collegiate Baseball League's All-Star game. United Way is happy to partner with Nashua's own Silver Knights team on this event. For each $5 ticket purchased from United Way, $2 will help us advance the common good in our community. Big Brother of Year has lasting bond with his 'Little Brother'

Christopher Yanni became a Big Brother to a sixth grader named Kevin nine years ago. Over the years, Christopher witnessed Kevin evolve from a young boy to a high school graduate to a Private serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Earlier this month, Christopher was named Big Brother of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua and Greater Salem, which receives funding from United Way. Read the guest blog post by BBBS Director Joy Barrett.

Day of Caring set for Tuesday, 9/11
On September 11th, about 300 volunteers from the Nashua area will join hundreds of others throughout New Hampshire in assisting non-profit organizations through United Way's annual Day of Caring. Non-profit agencies are invited to submit their project requests online through July 20. Company coordinators can download a packet with information about the event and volunteer sign-up process.
NEW THIS YEAR: Volunteers will go directly to assigned project sites in the morning, and are invited to an appreciation barbecue at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church from 3:30 to 5:30 PM that day. For questions about Day of Caring, contact Jennifer Wright or Lisa Conti.
Community liaison volunteers needed for 2012 Campaign
Could you or someone you know volunteer 6-8 hours per week this fall to help our community? If so, then a community liaison position with United Way may be the opportunity you've been looking for! Jennifer Wright isn't your typical recent high school graduate, and this summer won't be a typical one for her, as is interning for United Way. She is not new to the organization, however. Read about how her involvement with United Way-Youth Venture has changed her life and opened many new doors.
