Heather from HooperPower and Mercedes from Chicago Hoopdance are co-hosting World Hoopday in Chicago's Millennium Park!

Join us 7.7.07 anytime from 7-8:30pm to learn or share what this "hoop thing" is all about. We'll be in the NW corner of the park in Wrigley Square (Randolph + Michigan).

We will be passing out free hoops to Chicago children and adults as well as making a donation on behalf of Chicago hoopers to WorldHoopDay.com.

Thank you Millennium Park for helping us make a fantastic Chicago WHD possible!

"Intro to Hoopdance": Perfect for commitment-phobes.

"Intro to Hoopdance" gets people aquainted with basic hoop moves and also gets them thinking about the hoop and themselves in a whole new way. "Intro to Hoopdance" is a terrific opportunity to test-drive Hoopdance classes to see if you want to go further...and you will (wink).

WHEN: Sunday, July 22, 12-1:30pm (by popular demand, new longer classtime)

WHERE: Chang's Martial Arts, 1534 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago

COST: $50 for the 1 1/2hr class.

Due to limited space and high demand, pre-enrollment is required so we can make sure that everyone has enough space to groove that hoop.

For all class descriptions, details and enrollment info contact us at hooperpower.com or at hooperpower@yahoo.com.

HooperPower's Featured Hooper: Dyan

Dyan

Introducing the lovely, Dyan, one of our recent Beginning Hoopdance Series (Level 1) graduates. She's enthusiastic, determined, talented and has officially inspired us to work just a little harder to make our jumps look as effortless as hers do.

Q&A for Dyan:

HP: What does hoopdance mean to you?

D: Having a great workout and having a lot of fun at the same time. It means learning to be creative all over again. It's something that lets you have as much fun and be as carefree as when you were a kid. And it's a great way to meet new people!

HP: What's the most significant change in yourself since you started hoopdancing?

D: The most significant change in myself has been my self confidence. I felt like our class brought together a bunch of great people who just wanted to have fun, and it was really easy to set aside my inhibitions. I didn't have to worry about what anyone thought of me, because everyone was encouraging each other.

HP: What music are you listening to these days while hoopdancing?

D: I think one of the greatest soundtracks to hoop to is the "Go" soundtrack. There were some great mixes in class too!

HP: Where is your favorite place to hoopdance?

D: Anywhere with a bunch of other people, (like class) but if that's not possible, then my mom's backyard. It's really big.

HP: What does "HooperPower" mean to you?

D: "HooperPower" means positive energy, confidence, happiness, and feeling FREE!

TimeOut

"Forget hip-hop and yogalates-grab a hula hoop and get down with the fitness trend that's made its way from the West Coast to our city by the lake..."

We love TimeOut. We read it religiously and to be featured as Critic's Pick, well...sniff...tear...we're overjoyed.

"The way Heather Crosby sees it, exercise can be fun. At least it is with Hoopdance, a form of dance and fitness that uses large, colorful weighted hoops- think hula hoops but bigger and heavier-in a series of movements that boost cardiovascular endurance and help strengthen and the tone the body. Crosby, founder of Chicago-based HooperPower, is hoping to spread this West Coast exercise trend here."
