Celebrating 14 Years of Strengthening Families

Fourteen years ago this week, in a small office in Pilsen, Latinos Progresando officially opened its doors with the goal of making our community a better place. Now, with the help of each of you, we've been able to help thousands: we've given promising young students scholarships, put our community's stories on stage, beautified our neighborhood through our mural project, and worked to reunite families from all over the world!

Over the past year, LP has made some major strides:

We were honored by MALDEF, who presented Executive Director Luis Gutierrez with the Excellence in Community Service Award, and by the University of Chicago with the Community Partner Award.

Cristina Tabares, a former LP client who went on to become a caseworker in our legal services program, earned her accreditation from the Board of Immigration Appeals, making her the third accredited representatives on LP's staff.

We provided the platform for 30 high school students to write, produce and perform Equanimity, an original and hard-hitting play about their own experienceswhile they also learned the skills to manage a project from start to finish. Teatro Americano's  Equanimity opened here at home at the National Museum of Mexican Art, and closed on the road at Northern Illinois University.

Every accomplishment is shared--Latinos Progresando's success belongs to every family we reach, and to all of you. None of this would have been possible without your support.

Thank you for an amazing 14 years, and we look forward to another 14 to come!

Sincerely,

The Latinos Progresando family

Don't forget--this year, every new or increased donation to Latinos Progresando will be matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous contributor.

Thank you to our two newest Heroes: Jorge Garcia and Juan Jose Almaraz--and thank you to all of our  Heroes.
