Latinos Progresando Joins the National Council of La Raza
 After submitting an application for affiliate membership in November of 2010, Latinos Progresando was approved by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) in February. NCLR is the largest civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States and it works to improve the opportunities for Hispanic Americans. The NCLR assists Hispanics in areas such as education, housing, leadership, and health. Latinos Progresandos' new membership within NCLR could mean positive things to come for the Hispanic community in Chicago. Latinos Progresando is honored to be among the organizations selected to be a part of NCLR and looks forward to work closely with NCLR in the future.

NIU Talks with Luis Gutierrez  Executive Director of Latinos Progresando, will be speaking at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. He will be addressing students in a graduate class about multiculturalism and critical race theory. In the past few months, Luis has presented to students at the University of Chicago, as well as students from Kelly High School.

Scholarship Workshop at Little Village
 On Saturday, February 26th, students, parents, and volunteers came together for a special event at Little Village High School intended to help immigrant students apply for college scholarships as well as educate parents about different aspects of planning for college. IYJL: coming out of the shadows
 Last year, the Immigrant Youth Justice League (IYJL) organized a huge event on March 10th called "Coming Out of the Shadows," which was intended as a way for undocumented students to tell their stories to the world.
