A Place of Our Own: Social Justice in Illinois Higher Education

The Student Leadership Conference sponsored by (IALHEA) is a gathering of African American and Latino youth, grassroots community activist, university staff, students and academics.   
 

The Student Leadership Conference is an opportunity for African American and Latinos to:

  • Share strategies that enhance admission, retention and graduation from institutions of higher education in Illinois,
  • Share knowledge about the unique experience of African American and Latinos in the quest for higher education,
  • Build ties that bond our communities of color by talking about our experiences
  • Forge a plan of action and build a common agenda.

DEADLINE APPROACHING: C-BYG Scholarship Applications Due April 15th!


The college-bound youth group is now accepting applications from high school seniors and college freshmen for the group's scholarship. No social security number is required. Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2008.

On Friday night, students from a dozen high schools, colleges, and universities from all over the Chicago area gathered at Casa Michoacan for food, entertainment, and information about Latinos Progresando's College-Bound Youth Group.
