Still a Chance to DREAM: Immigration Policy Updates and Prospects

Join Latinos Progresando for the kick-off event in our fall series of Community Forums!
Invited keynote speaker: Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), original sponsor of the DREAM Act.
Panelists will provide community members with important updates on the national immigration debate in Congress, and highlight continued possibilities for advocacy on behalf of the immigrant community.
There is still a chance for Congress to give hardworking immigrant children a better future, by passing the DREAM Act in 2007!

Proyecto Latina
in the Garden
Celebrate Latino literature with a series of readings by the artists of
Chicago's Proyecto Latina. Set to live music that fires the imagination and stirs the soul, featuring readings by Irasema Gonzalez, Diana Pando, Yolanda Cardenas, Coya Paz, Silvia Rivera and the Luna Blues Machine! Date: Thursday, August 9
Time: 6:00pm
Cost: $5 suggested donation
Location: Garfield Park Conservatory

Annual LP Community Picnic
Please join Latinos Progresando on August 18th for our annual Community Picnic! Friends and family are invited to join us to relax and socialize. Latinos Progresando will provide barbecue basics, but guests are welcome to bring additional food and refreshments.
