Dear Las Lomitas Families,
How wonderful these last few weeks have been! I'm sure you all enjoyed the Spring Sing last Wednesday. A huge tip of the hat goes to music teacher Martha Lampert for all of the preparation and planning to make it possible. There is something so very pure about the sweet sound of children singing. I love it and I'm sure you do, too!
This Friday is Grandparents' Day. We are expecting over 450 grandparents and can't wait to see them! I will send a separate email about this event, but please be sure any attending grandparents have all the details. Please go to http://www.llef.org/_grandparents/gpday.html to get the answers to your questions. Please do not plan to park at school that day. Volunteers can be shuttled from the site on Valparaiso, or park on side streets. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Thursday is Open House. I hope all of you will come and celebrate another successful year. It is always amazing to see all of the projects, books, artwork and presentations on display. Our new Assistant Principal, Alain Camou, will be on campus that evening. Keep an eye out for him!
Until next time,
Sue Sartor
Principal

Third Grade Field Day and Party
THANK YOU HOT LUNCH VOLUNTEERS!
A huge thank you to our amazing crew of Las Lomitas PTA hot lunch volunteers! It's been an incredible year, with a record number of lunches served (over 33,500!), all thanks to the countless contributions of day chairs, volunteers, and last-minute helpers. It takes a team each and every school day, and we're truly grateful for everyone's time, energy and support. A very special thank you goes to the team leaders - Julie Herlihy (Mondays), Liesl Noble (Tuesdays), Stacy May and Stacy Molano (Wednesdays), Allison O'Brien (Thursdays), and Rebecca Grant (Fridays) - we couldn't do it without you! We're also happy to announce that, after a thorough analysis of potential options, we've decided to continue to partner with Choicelunch for our school lunches next year. We're looking forward to some new and exciting changes from Choicelunch, including a dozen new entree choices, the ability to request same-day lunches before 6 a.m. and loyalty rewards (who says there's no such thing as a free lunch?!). And, to help your kids learn more about the menu options, free samples will be available at some of the on-campus family events next year. We hope to see you there! |

Looking for La Entrada PTA Art Notecard Co-Chair |
Looking for LA ENTRADA PTA Art Notecard Project Co-Chair for 2012-2013 School Year
The Art Notecard project is administered to 4th and 5th grade classrooms each year (in conjunction with the same project at Las Lomitas). Parent volunteers help children in each class to create amazing artwork that is printed onto notecard stock. Parents purchase these cards to give as gifts for friends and family or to use as thank you notes or birthday cards. Funds from this program ($4,000 raised last year) have been used by each classroom for activities including: field trips to plays, musical performances, dance performances, art galleries, visiting artists to teach special programs in the classroom, guest speakers, special art supplies and literature about the arts and music.
We are looking for a parent of an entering 4th grade student to give a two-year commitment to this project. The first year will be spent shadowing the 5th grade co-chair (Paula Hamilton), and the second year will be spent training your replacement! Time commitment is minimal with responsibilities including; coordinating parent volunteer time in the classroom, processing order forms and packaging art notecard orders for delivery to the school.
Questions? Please contact Paula Hamilton (paulajhchang@yahoo.com).
