School News |
Dear Las Lomitas Families,
Last week was wonderful! On behalf of all the faculty and staff, I want to thank all of you, and the children, for making us all feel so appreciated. Please know that we appreciate all of
YOU for making Las Lomitas such a special place for learning. I do believe we have a mutual admiration society going on here!
We are heading into some very busy last few weeks of school!
- STAR testing wrapped up last Friday. I am so very proud of our students for putting forth their best effort!
- The Dance Festival is May 16th at 9:30 a.m. The students are practicing and costumes are under construction. It is sure to be a real treat!
- The Spring Sing is May 23th at 9:30 a.m. Mrs. Lampert is rehearsing with the classes on songs and instruments.
- Open House is May 31st. Cano Hall will be open at 6:30 p.m. for the Art Show and classrooms open at 7 p.m. The students are putting the final touches on published books and works of art.
- Grandparents' Day is June 1st at 10 a.m. We have close to 450 grandparents registered! It should be a fabulous event!
- Third Grade Field Day is June 7th. Get ready for lots of fun!
During these end-of-year events there will be over a thousand people on campus. Please be sure to be courteous to our neighbors and park in designated spaces; do not block driveways! I encourage you to bike or walk to the events if at all possible. There will be no regular parking on campus on Grandparents' Day, so plan do drive through the queue if you come by car. Grandparents will be shuttled on a school bus to the event from the Church of Latter Day Saints parking lot on Valpariaso Avenue.
Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you to our yard supervisors: Marie Klein, Kaitlin McGhee, Grete Santucci, Jessie Phillippe and Maria Melendez. They have done a wonderful job this year supervising lunch and keeping a close eye on your children. If you happen to see them in the hallways during these events, please let them know how much they are appreciated.
Until next time,
Sue Sartor
Principal

Emergency Card Reminder
All students should have received their 2012-2013 Student Emergency Card via mail (if LE) or the Monday packet (if LL). This needs to be updated once a year. It documents important information about your child and also serves as a registration form for the next year in our District. Please check that all the information is current, all missing information completed, edit where appropriate, sign and return. We find that parent's emails addresses changes are most often overlooked, so we ask you to double-check that and all information for needed changes. If any information on this form changes during the next school year, please update the school office. Even if you are not returning to the District, please check the appropriate box at the top of the form and return the form to your child's teacher. PLEASE Return the Student Emergency Form, updated and signed, to your child's teacher by May 18th. Thank you.
