This getaway is certainly one-of-a-kind, and probably once in a lifetime. Your home-away-from-home for the weekend will be the beautiful Napa Valley Lodge in the heart of Yountville. The weekend begins with a bang: a romantic dinner for two at what many consider to be "the best restaurant in the world, period." That's right; you'll be dining at The French Laundry, the world famous recipient of three Michelin Guide stars every year since 2006. We've also arranged for a sitter to care for your precious children, so wave goodbye and stroll three blocks away to The French Laundry for your incomparable nine-course tasting menu with outstanding wine!
On Saturday morning, you will rise early with your children for grape picking, sorting, and breakfast with your hosts, Pamela and Eric Stang, at the exclusive Napa Valley Reserve, an 80-acre private vineyard and wine club founded by Bill Harlan. Later that morning you'll enjoy the annual Children's Harvest celebration, followed by a delicious lunch and fabulous wines.
Your adventure continues Sunday morning at the renowned Silver Oak Cellars, with a VIP Tour and Wine Tasting with your own personal guide. Silver Oak will present tastings of its Current Release Wines, several Library Vintages and wines from its sister winery, Twomey Cellars. This is a weekend you'll never forget.

School News |
Dear Las Lomitas Families,
May is a very busy month! Be sure to mark your calendars for all of the upcoming events.
As we head into these last few weeks of school, I'd like you to look forward to next year and consider serving on one of the PTA committees, help with LLL before-after school program planning or take part in events sponsored by the Foundation. All of these parent organizations support the students and are much appreciated by all of us here at Las Lomitas.
Another way you could participate in school planning is to join the School Site Council (SSC). We have parents willing to continue for another term next year, but I want to be sure that anyone who is interested in joining the SSC has an opportunity to learn more about it.
The School Site Council (SSC) is a group of faculty and parent representatives who meet over the course of the year to address areas of program quality under the School Based Coordinated Program. The Council's primary responsibilities are to review and monitor our Single Plan for Student Achievement and School Improvement Program budget.
Each member serves for two years. We meet once a month on Wednesdays from 3 - 4:30 p.m. This year's faculty representatives were Barbara Porro (K), Maria Marchi (1st), Catherine Wedge (2nd), Robbie Christensen (3rd) and Sue Sartor (Principal). Parent representatives were Bill Steinmetz, Christy Heaton, Eric Ver Ploeg, Rebecca Deutscher and Andrea Turner.
If you are interested in joining this group of dedicated parents and educators who monitor the school plan, make sure the budge supports the plan and care deeply about children and education, please join us. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to work with and learn from teachers and the administration.
If you would like to serve on the School Site Council or learn more about it, please contact me at 854-5900 ext.261 or by email at
ssartor@llesd.org.
Until next time,
Sue Sartor
Principal

Emergency Card Reminder
All students should have received their 2012-2013 Student Emergency Card via mail (if LE) or the Monday packet (if LL). This needs to be updated once a year. It documents important information about your child and also serves as a registration form for the next year in our District. Please check that all the information is current, all missing information completed, edit where appropriate, sign and return. We find that parent's emails addresses changes are most often overlooked, so we ask you to double-check that and all information for needed changes. If any information on this form changes during the next school year, please update the school office. Even if you are not returning to the District, please check the appropriate box at the top of the form and return the form to your child's teacher. PLEASE Return the Student Emergency Form, updated and signed, to your child's teacher by May 18th. Thank you.

PTA News |
Would you like to lead or co-lead
any of these PTA committees?
We are so grateful to the committee leads that contributed their time and enthusiasm to make these programs so special this year - thank you!
As these folks move on, we are seeking new volunteers to lead or co-lead a program. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the school, build friendships with new families, but most importantly make your child's school experience more special (kids LOVE to see a parent volunteer at school)!
The PTA Volunteer Coordinator will make sure you have all the volunteers required to execute the program, we just need you (and a co-lead, if desired) to facilitate!

Menlo Park Library News |
The Menlo Park Library will be closed to the public for four weeks from Monday May 21 through Sunday June 17, 2012. The library will be remodeling its Circulation area as it updates its data storage and retrieval system by implementing radio frequency identification (RFID). In addition to this update in technology, the carpeting throughout the Library will be replaced.
The Library is part of the Peninsula Library System, a consortium of libraries up and down the Peninsula that share materials thereby expanding each individual library's collection. Member libraries of Peninsula Library System are converting to RFID technology because the implementation of RFID boosts productivity, improves collection management and enhances customer service. As a result of these changes, patrons will be able to check out materials more quickly and more staff can be focused on enhanced customer service.
