Over 300 children and youth, ages 5 to 18, come to BCNC for summer camp in July and August.  Our summer camp provides opportunities for children and youth to learn through project-based activities, field trips, and community-building and leadership activities.  Will you donate now and help a child have an unforgettable summer?  Thank you for your support!

Young professionals discover Chinatown   

At the Amazing Chinatown Race on July 30th, Bamboo Circle young professionals discovered there's more to Chinatown than restaurants while raising funds for the Youth Center. Special thanks to the Bamboo Circle steering committee, our participants including winners Stephen Chan and Martin Son, Chu, Ring & Hazel LLP, Flour Bakery, Museum of Fine Arts and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Capturing a community in photos

BCNC Hine Fellow Jennifer Carpenter led the Alphabet Project to explore our community through images and words. Over 70 BCNC children, youth and adults took photos to share their personal and creative viewpoints of the Chinatown community. Check out the final products online here and on display at BCNC.

Storytelling and free books for children  

This summer, the ReadBoston Storymobile came to BCNC every Thursday to provide 100 children from BCNC's Red Oak summer camp and the community with storytelling and free, new books to take home. Check out the last session this Thursday, August 11, 1:15 pm at 885 Washington Street and special events around the city August 15-19.

Join us for this FREE event of entertainment, food and activities for the whole family. Activities include: watermelon eating contests, arts and crafts, inflatable obstacle course, and pony rides! Exhibitors include: Museum of Science, Museum of Fine Arts, The Creature Teachers, New England State Street logoAquarium, and Historic New England. Families on the path to college  

The Youth Center and Family Services welcomed five new families to the Families United in Educational Leadership (FUEL) program this year. Parents and youth will participate together in workshops about the college process and save towards college for their youth. After participating, their savings up to $1,500 will be matched. A panel of past participants shared their experiences with the program at their first meeting.

Family Services' first Children Fitness Group "Rock your Body" had 5 sessions where parents and children learned about health and fitness from presenters from Tufts Medical Center and  Families explore Georges Island BCNC Recreation and Fitness program and cooking demonstrations, kept weekly fitness logs, made individual fitness plans, and participated in fun physical exercises. The families also got to take a field trip to Georges Island thanks to the generosity of Bank of America.
