Xiao Ling Wen and her mother at graduation

Adult student graduates from college

Xiao Ling Wen came to BCNC too old for high school and with English not yet ready for college. BCNC prepared her so when she graduated from the Adult Education program, she was able to get into UMass Boston for Management and Accounting. She returned to BCNC as a TAG tutor and a volunteer to help clients with their income tax forms. She was also a recipient of the First Literacy Scholarship and BCNC's TJX volunteer of the month award.  We were so proud to see her graduate from college this June!

BCNC runs Boston Public Schools English Language Learner Summer Academy

The Youth Center is partnering with Boston Public School's (BPS) Office of English Language Learners (ELLs) to run their English Language Learner Summer Enrichment Academy. We are excited for this partnership which enables us to provide ESL and math classes for high school aged Chinese ELLs with the help of certified teachers hired by BPS.  We plan on serving 50 youth this summer.
