We are ready for a busy summer! Over 300 children and youth, ages 5 to 18, will come to BCNC for summer camp in July and August. Our summer camp provides opportunities for children and youth to learn through project-based activities, field trips, and community-building and leadership activities. Will you donate now and help a child have an unforgettable summer? Thank you for your support! |

From Elaine Ng, Executive Director
At the end of this week, I will begin my sabbatical as part of the Barr Fellowship, a once in a lifetime opportunity including a two-week learning journey to Haiti, a three-month sabbatical, and the privilege to learn from esteemed peers and colleagues as part of the Barr Fellows group. Read more here about the fellowship.
Over the next three months, I will utilize this wonderful opportunity to reflect on my work, re-energize, and most importantly connect with my family. During this period, BCNC will be led by our senior team, Carmen Chan, Director of Development, Giles Li, Director of Programs and Tobin Soo Hoo, Director of Finance and Administration.
I want to extend a sincere thank you to my wonderful colleagues at BCNC, the extraordinary Board, our extended and inspiring family of friends and supporters, and to the Barr Foundation and the fantastic Barr Fellows. All of you inspire me!
I will return on October 3, 2011 and wish everyone a wonderful summer! |

Extraordinary Volunteers
Six Fidelity employees from the Asian Employee Resource Group braved the rainy weather for a community service event and prepared the BCNC rooftop garden by removing debris and dead plants and laying down fresh topsoil so that youth can work on the garden this summer.
We said goodbye to two Youth Center volunteers from UMass Boston's Asian American Studies scholarship program, Richard Sann and Matt Seto. They were indispensable volunteers and we thank them for their hard work, passion, and commitment.
