Young leaders go to New York
Members of the Youth Center went to New York during April vacation week to present a workshop on gentrification to a group of 25 teens from the Chinese American Planning Council. The workshop was well received, and our youth showed off their leadership skills with an interactive activity and videos they created. They will be leading the workshop here in Boston in May and June.

Bamboo Circle professionals interview youth
Forty two young professionals conducted mock college and job interviews with BCNC youth on April 16. The volunteers gave the youth feedback and tips on interviewing. Youth also asked the young professionals questions about their job and college paths in two panel discussions. Click here for photos from the day.

Spring cleaning by State Street
On April 21, 15 volunteers from State Street Corporation's Asian Professionals Group came to BCNC and did some spring cleaning of our offices. BCNC would like to thank these financial services professionals for dedicating an entire day to cataloging resources, reorganizing the library and closets, cleaning the kitchen and gym and discarding clutter.

Planning for Chinatown's future 
Over 50 guests from foundations and corporations joined us as Kye Liang from the Chinatown Coalition presented the 2010 Chinatown Master Plan, a guide to the growth and development of the Chinatown community at a lunch sponsored by BCNC and Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy on April 29. Giles Li, BCNC director of programs, shared an overview of BCNC's new strategic plan as well.

Training parent leaders
BCNC Family Services launched Building Parent Leadership and Advocate Skills, a new six-week training program to provide parents with knowledge and skills to be more confident in leadership roles and to represent a "parent voice" in their schools and communities. The second round will be for parents of children with special needs.
