Assisted 500 with taxes
This tax season through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, BCNC helped over 500 low and moderate income individuals and families, doubling last year's goals of people served. Special thanks go to an inspiring volunteer - Yi Lin, site coordinator. Yi flew from Washington D.C to Boston every Friday for the past few months to visit his family and still dedicated his Saturdays to helping the low-income community in Chinatown.

Playgroup for children with autism
Family Services organized a playgroup for children with autism and their parents. The goal is to use sensory materials to sharpen fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination and increase communication and concentration. In one session, we used finger paint to explore nature. One child was sensitive to the paint texture and wanted to wash his hands whenever he touched the paint. However, he was able to concentrate and finish his artwork!
