 Strategies For Productive Employees

I came across some valuable insights the other day while reading "Getting Results". Today we are asked to do more with less. We ask our employees to do the same. Motivating them to do their best is often hard, but we also know that people work smarter when there is something in it for them.  I thought these strategies were worth repeating:

The things that get rewarded get done!

1. Reward solid solutions instead of quick fixes.
2. Reward risk taking instead of risk avoiding.
3. Reward applied creativity instead of mindless conformity.
4. Reward decisive action instead of paralysis by analysis.
5. Reward smart work instead of busywork.
6. Reward simplification instead of needless complication.
7. Reward quietly effective behavior instead of squeaking joints.
8. Reward quality work instead of fast work.
9. Reward loyalty instead of turnover.
10. Reward working together instead of working against.

It's up to us to create productive employees. What behaviors we reward, and how we reward them, can make all the difference in creating high performance instead of mediocre performance.

  Recession selling continued:
Another station is fighting the recession by dividing his staff into teams. Each team is headed by a sales manager or senior seller. Each team takes a category of business upon which they wish to focus. They choose categories that are doing well in today's economy. Then, each team GOES VERTICAL in that category. The team leader manages the process. This approach has led to increased new business revenue.
Words to Live By.....

"You know what makes leadership?  It is the ability to get men to do what they don't want to do, and like it."

A little about me.....
pat head shot in black sweater
Pat Bryson has worked in the radio industry for over 25 years. During that time, she was one of the highest billing sales people in the radio industry in her market. She was promoted to General Sales Manager, managing and training both experienced and inexperienced sales people . Her career advanced to General Manager, where Pat  created a culture of over achievement for her stations.

Through Bryson Broadcasting International, Pat now helps her clients to create that same culture of over achievement in their stations.
