At Faces First we know how difficult it can be to navigate through all of the information that is out there about skin care. There are literally hundreds of products that promise to remove wrinkles, improve your skin & take years off your face, overnight. Medical Skincare Products vs. traditional, over-the-counter cosmetic lines Why choose "medical" skin care? FACES CLEANSE - This cleanser contains both lactic and salicylic acid in low concentrations to gently exfoliate the skin, and green tea to soothe irritation, while maintaining the integrity of the skin's natural barrier.
- Use am/pm on normal to oily skin
WHY CLEANSE? Cleansing is a very important part of every regimen. You should choose a cleanser that can wash away the dirt, debris and makeup from the day without compromising your skin's natural acidic barrier. Harsh, over the counter cleansers and bar soap are damaging your skin's natural lipid barrier and altering the all-over health and condition of your skin. By using a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin, you will create a strong foundation for the rest of your regimen.
FACES RADIANCE C This is a lightweight serum containing the antioxidants Vitamin C, E and Ferulic Acid, combined with Salicylic Acid for gentle exfoliation and to assist with the penetration of the antioxidants.
- This product contains no fragrance.
- Suitable for all skin types except very sensitive skin.
- Use AM or PM after cleansing.
WHY TREAT SKIN? Antioxidants, specifically Vitamin C provides many benefits to the skin when used on a regular basis. Vitamin C has sun protective abilities and helps to eliminate damaging free radicals, while firming the skin by stimulating collagen. Considering the world we live in, products containing antioxidants should be used on a daily basis.
FACES BRIGHT For those of you with sun damage or other pigmentation issues or who don't care to use chemical bleaching products on your skin, this product is a good alternative.
- Contains the skin brightening ingredients of kojic and phyto acids, along with the gentle exfoliation and moisturizing properties of lactic acid, and the antioxidant Vitamin C.
- Suitable for all skin types.
- Use PM on clean, dry skin.
FACES RENEW This product, suitable for all but sensitive skin, is a must in any skin care regime.
- Contains an exfoliating acid, a gentle but effective Retinoid (vitamin A) and a robust selection of Antioxidants that are designed to smooth skin texture, stimulate collagen, and fight free radical damage.
- Helps to fade pigmentation and combats redness and inflammation.
After using this product for a few days, you may experience a slight sloughing off of the skin. If used on a regular basis, FACES RENEW will help to diminish fine lines and leave the surface of the skin soft and smooth.
- Use PM on clean, dry skin.
WHY EXFOLIATE? The cycle of new skin cells being regenerated and dead skin being exfoliated slows down rapidly as we age. Dead cells can stay on the surface of the skin for many days, making the complexion look dull and lifeless.
When the natural process of shedding dry skin cells doesn't work, you may need to use something to help this change occur. Keeping the skin exfoliated helps insure that the products you use on a daily basis, can target fresh new skin cells and therefore work more efficiently.
Alpha Hydroxy acids, like Glycolic Acid which is derived from sugars, or Lactic Acid which is derived from milk, are the most popular AHAs because they are better able to penetrate the skin than other AHAs. These AHAs work by removing the "glue" that binds the dead skin cells to the new cells, allowing the old skin to be washed away easily.
In addition to their exfoliating benefits, AHAs also offer many restorative benefits. In higher concentrations they can stimulate collagen production and reduce sun damage. Many of the services we offer in our office include treatments using these AHAs. One word of warning! Most products that exfoliate the skin can make the skin very sun-sensitive, so it is imperative that sunscreen be used on a regular, daily basis.
FACES REFRESH WEEKLY PAD - These pads contain a high concentration of Alpha hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy Acids and are intended for use on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
- Perfect for skins that need a quick "pick me up"
- For oily or acne-prone skin.
- Use on clean, dry skin AM or PM
FACES CLEAR DAILY PADS These pads have the same hydroxy acids as our FACES REFRESH weekly pads, but at a lower strength so that they can be used on a daily, or twice daily basis after cleansing.
- Ideal for normal to oily skin.
FACES MOISTURE REPAIR A rich moisturizer that is perfect for the dry Colorado climate.
- Contains Niacinamide (vitamin B3), which has been clinically proven to reduce redness and inflammation and inhibit melanin production.
- This product is free of solvents, chemicals, and parabens.
- Suitable for drier, more sensitive skin types.
- Use morning after cleansing.
WHY MOISTURIZE?
Between climatic changes, heating, lack of humidity, pollution and damaging UV rays, your skin has to endure a lot of punishment and can become itchy and flaky as a result. Moisturizing your skin on a daily basis helps promote hydration, skin cell regeneration, healing and prevention of premature lines and wrinkles.
FACES QUENCH GEL This is a lightweight alternative to FACES MOISTURE REPAIR, containing moisture enhancing Hyaluronic acid (vitamin B5).
- This serum works by binding moisture to skin cells thereby helping to give the surface of the skin a firmer more youthful appearance.
- Also contains anti aging peptides which help to stimulate collagen.
- This product is good for all skin types and can be used in the morning after cleansing, alone or under FACES MOISTURE REPAIR for extra hydration.
FACES BLOCK 30 A physical sunblock that contains Zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, and antioxidants for added benefit.
- There are no chemicals or parabens in this product.
- Good for all skin types.
- Use frequently if outside for prolonged periods.
Sunblock is the most important part of any skin regimen. Sun damage is the number one cause of aging, so it is very important to use your sun block on a daily basis, even in winter and on cloudy days, as UVA rays are still present.
- Physical Sun Block, or reflective ingredients, Titanium dioxide and Zinc Oxide, have the added benefit of blocking UVA and UVB rays.
