 Heads-Up From the Executive Director
August 12, 2012
Greetings!heads up

Important information for the Central OAC Board:

Eleven Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($1,150.00).  The amount raised at Central OAC's first 2012 house party on Sunday! The hostess?  Kimberly Parker.  Remember, the responsibility for fundraising rests with both the staff and the board.  What can you do?  Contact Wills Moore or Barry Snyder!

Our deepest thanks to the board members who were able to respond to Lee's request and accelerate their pledge payments.  Almost $7,000 in cash was received averting a cash flow problem for August.

The new chair of the Public Policy Advocacy Committee is Denise de La Rue.  During her first-term as a board member, Denise served on the committee.  Earlier this year, she joined the Outreach Services Committee, but with Caroline vacating the chair, Denise has agreed to return to the advocacy committee as chair.  She is also board secretary and a member of the Executive Committee.

Anthony Damelio, our newest board member and the newest resident pastor at Central Pres. Church, will serve on the Outreach Services Committee.  More information about Anthony will follow.

Wende Ballew has joined Central OAC's Public Policy Advocacy Committee.  A member of Central Pres. who has led the church's Prison Ministry, she is the executive director of Reforming Arts.  Wende is the founder of a prison theatre program in Lee Arrendale and Metro State Prisons. She designed the curriculum by focusing on creating social change through increasing literacy, self-regulation, and self-efficacy. She is well-known in the State Capitol for her advocacy work seeking prison reform.

Agenda Packages for the Board meeting will go out on August 15, 2012.  Please review the information carefully as will we have a lot to cover.  Committees will meet at 6pm sharp and the board meeting will follow at 6:50 pm.  Committee chairs should notify their committee members who are not board members of their meetings.  A box lunch will be available at 5:00.  The link to order food will be sent next week.

I accepted a check in the amount of $4,557.43 from Hands Around the Hill representing Central OAC's portion of the proceeds from the 5K run/walk.  We owe HAtH a big thanks. The number participating in the race, and the proceeds, are double from last year.  More information.

Please feel to call (404) 601-3173 or email me with questions or for more information.
