    Step back in time as we celebrate the changing of the season. Join staff and friends of the Mayborn Museum Complex in the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village for special events and activities relating to life in the 1890s. Visitors can watch blacksmithing and cooking demonstrations, listen to live music, participate in school yard games and much more! Families can also take advantage of a Fall inspired photo opportunity. Vitek's BBQ willAutumn Celebration be available for purchase, so plan to spend the day.

    Regular admission to the museum includes activities and events. Museum activities and events are free to all museum members and Baylor University students.

     

     

     

     

    National Fossil Day

    The National Park Service and the American Geological Institute are partnering to host the third annual National Fossil Day on October 17, 2012 during Earth Science Week. National Fossil Day is a celebration organized to promote public awareness and stewardship of fossils, as well as to foster a greater appreciation of their scientific and educational value.

    Waco Mammoth Site

     

    To celebrate National Fossil Day, our very own Waco Mammoth Site is offering a Fall Fossil Festival on Saturday, October 20 from 10am-4pm. Check their Facebook page for more details.

     

     

     

     

    Artifact Spotlight

    The Mayborn Museum Complex in addition to caring for and housing much of the fossils excavated from the Waco Mammoth Site, has in its collection many wonderful and fascinating fossils. Pictured below are some examples of fossil teeth that you might find in your own backyard! All of these fossils were collected in McLennan County.

    2012 Texas Junior Duck Stamp Program Winners

    Jr. Duck Stamp Winners Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex presents the 2012 Texas Junior Duck Stamp Program winners on display September 22 through November 25, 2012. Each year the winning entry from the national contest is made into the Junior Duck Stamp sold by the U.S. Postal Service for $5.

    Receipts from sales are used to fund scholarships for the national contest winners, state programs, marketing, and environmental education materials. The program is open to all U.S. school children.

    All Aboard the Mayborn Express
    December 1, 2012- January 6, 2012

    Join us as we welcome back the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders and their trains for the sixth year at the Mayborn. The extensive train set-up in the Anding Traveling Exhibit Gallery will include elaborate scenes of bridges and trestles, cities and towns, and depict both the past and present. The young and the young-at-heart will enjoy imagining the excitement of being a train engineer!
