Learn More About It: Identifying Archaeological Materials

October is Texas Archaeology Month

Saturday, October 1, 2011
1:00-4:00pm

Have you ever found an arrow point or stone tool and wanted to know more about it? Mayborn Museum Complex staff and members of the Central Texas Archaeology Society will be at the museum to offer some possible answers.

While getting your archaeological artifacts identified, learn what data is important for scientists to know when identifying an artifact, and how to take care of your artifacts. Archaeological techniques will be demonstrated, and hands-on examples of common materials (bone, wood, horn, and stone) will be available, as well as a display of local archaeological finds.

October is Texas Archaeology Month

Sponsored by Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum Complex, Department of Museum Studies, and the Department of Anthropology, Forensic Science, and Archaeology, and the Central Texas Archaeology Society.

For more information, call (254)710-1190.
