On Display Through September 5, 2010
Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum Complex invites you to
visit the enchanted world of castles experienced through LEGO bricks. LEGO Castle Adventure is now on display through September 5,
2010 in the Thomas E. and Emilyne Weed Anding Traveling Exhibition Gallery at the Mayborn Museum Complex.
Special exhibit admission includes the entire museum and the LEGO Castle Adventure exhibit at $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for
children.
Museum and exhibits are free to all museum members and Baylor University students.
Artifact Spotlight
To complement LEGO® Castle Adventure, the Mayborn has borrowed several authentic pieces of armor from the Higgins Armory Museum,
America’s foremost arms and armory museum. One of the loaned artifacts is a shaffron, or armor for a horse’s head, that was made in
Germany in the 16th century. | |
|
Although its history and development generally paralleled that of armor for man—both employing the same materials (metal, leather, and
textile) and decorative techniques—horse armor was generally rarer, being reserved mainly for the elite heavy cavalry.

2010 Lillian M. Brown Volunteer of the Year Award
This award is given annually to a museum volunteer in honor of Lillian M. Brown, who from 1948 to 1990 contributed thousands of
volunteer hours identifying, cataloging, and preserving museum specimens, educating school children through museum summer classes, and
welcoming visitors as a docent for the Strecker Museum. Her selfless contribution of her talents and her time are a lasting inspiration
to all who support the concept of the public museum.
The 2010 Lilliam M. Brown Volunteer of the Year Award recipient is Janice Grelle. The staff at the Mayborn Museum would like to thank
Janice, and all of our wonderful volunteers for their service.
