SPRING BREAK ACTIVITIES

Get a preview of our summer traveling exhibit National Geographic MAPS: Tools for Adventure in the springtime! The Mayborn's spring break activities provide a sneak peek into the themes of our upcoming exhibit as you learn about locales far away and close to home.

Hear members of the Heart of Texas Storytelling Guild tell tales from around the globe. Come to the Kids Corner for a first person interpretation from Amelia Earheart as she recounts her aviation adventures. Watch movies in the SBC Theater featuring exciting and exotic places. FINAL WEEK! The Heart Gallery Exhibit

The Heart Gallery Exhibit is a project of the Adoption Coalition of Texas and CASA organizations across Central Texas. The Heart Gallery of Central Texas is both an art exhibit and community education effort. The Heart Gallery features professional portraits by renowned documentary and portrait photographers of children in foster care who are waiting to be adopted. The Heart Gallery has traveled all across Texas, and the Mayborn Museum Complex is proud to bring this exhibition to Waco.

See the Heart Gallery from February 1 to March 10. Click here to learn more.

Skeletons in the Closet: Selections from the Strecker Collection

We’ve dusted off some of our favorite skeletons from the Strecker Collection to complement our traveling exhibit Bones: An Exhibit Inside You.  Survey unusual skeletons from the collection, including a juvenile elephant skeleton and walrus skull, while learning about animal bones and teeth in this fascinating new exhibition.  Skeletons in the Closet will be on display in the exhibit area next to the SBC Theater through March 3.

Wings Across America presents: Fly Girls of WWII

Fly Girls of WWII honors a brave group of young women who flew military aircraft during World War II.  They were known as the WASP (Women Air Force Service Pilots) and they played an essential, but largely forgotten, role in American history.  See some of their priceless uniforms, pictures, awards, a stirring video, and learn about their invaluable contributions. On exhibition through April 1. Click here to learn more.
