Just Flew In!

Wings Across America presents: Fly Girls of WWII exhibit that honors a brave group of young women that flew military aircraft during World War II.  They were known as the WASP (Women Air Force Service Pilots) and played an essential, but largely forgotten, role in American history.  See some of their priceless uniforms, pictures, awards, a stirring video, and learn about their invaluable contributions on exhibition through November 28.  Click here to learn more.

book club logo

Join us for our inaugural meeting of the Mayborn Book Club as we discuss the book No Bone Unturned by award-winning author Jeff Benedict.  In this fascinating biography, lawyer and investigative journalist Jeff Benedict follows Doug Owsley, a curator for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History as he painstakingly rebuilds skeletons, helping to identify them and determine their cause of death. No Bone Unturned tracks many of Owsley’s notorious cases including the fight over the bones of Kennewick Man, a 9,600-year-old human skeleton found along the banks of Washington’s Columbia River.  Meet us in the second floor café on Thursday, October 11 from 6:30 - 7:30pm.  Buy the book in our museum store for the low price of $13.95!

Get a head start on November’s thriller novel The Lovely Bones by bestselling writer Alice Sebold.
