"Wrapped in Tradition"
Help us celebrate the opening of our new traveling exhibit “Wrapped in Tradition: The Chihuly Collection of American Indian Trade Blankets" on Sunday, May 20, 2007. Read more about this amazing exhibit, on display for the first time in Texas! Join us from 1 – 5 pm for an afternoon of thrilling opening day festivities! Renowned Kiowa/Comanche musician Tom Mauchahty-Ware and his American Indian Dancers will perform in the rotunda. Tom comes to us from the former Caddo Reservation in Oklahoma and looks forward to talking with visitors during a question & answer session. Be one of the first 500 visitors through the door and receive a very special gift! This educational, entertaining day and amazing exhibit are a must see!

A Stitch in Time traces the history of the quilting tradition from hand sewing to early use of the sewing machine. This exhibit showcases six patchwork quilts selected from the Mayborn Museum Complex's permanent collection. This colorful exhibition runs through July 17 in the Baylor History area of the museum.

The Zuhl Collection of Petrified Tree Cross Sections is an exhibit on loan courtesy of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. It includes 26 fossilized tree cross sections, varying in size from 8 inches in diameter to over 40, some of which date back millions of years. The exhibit will be on display through August 27, 2007.
Ancient Microworlds unites the worlds of photography and paleontology to produce rarely seen visions into past life. Through the use of high-magnification photography, these images allow a an amazing view into the world of fossils. The exhibit runs through August 27, 2007.

Paige visited the museum on April 14th. She said, "I like the news part. I like being able to be on the TV and I liked the tornado. I like the music room with the paper piano."

The museum store is receiving lots of merchandise to complement our summer traveling exhibit, "Wrapped in Tradition." We will carry some Pendleton blankets and other home-related merchandise that will enhance your museum visit. We are the only store in Waco to carry Pendleton products. We will also have several books in stock pertaining to trade blankets and to Dale Chihuly and his beautiful art. Please shop the store for all sorts of items inspired by Native Americans and some even made by Native Americans.
