April SENSATIONAL SATURDAY:
Threads That Bind Through Time
April 14 · 10am - 5pm

Come experience the timeless craft of
needlework in all its various forms. Nine skilled regional
groups and artists will be on hand to demonstrate their talents,
and visitors can make crafts of their very own to take home.
Handiwork such as quilting, knitting, looming, and weaving
will be showcased throughout the museum.

This event compliments the
exhibit, A Stitch in Time that runs from April 14 –
July 17, 2007. By learning about the art of textiles, you
will be able to see the similarities in the quilt exhibit
and the American Indian trade blankets that will be the focus
of our traveling exhibit which opens in May.

- Waco Knitting Group demonstrates knitting
- Mayborn staff and volunteers will guide visitors through
making their own lanyards in the Kid's Corner

A Stitch in Time
April 14 - July 17
A Stitch in Time traces the history
of the quilting tradition from hand sewing to early use of
the sewing machine. This exhibit showcases six patchwork quilts
selected from the Mayborn Museum Complex's permanent collection.
This colorful exhibition opens April 14 and runs through July
17 in the Baylor History area of the museum.

The
Zuhl Collection of Petrified Tree Cross Sections
The Zuhl Collection of Petrified Tree Cross Sections
is an exhibit on loan courtesy of the Houston Museum of Natural
Science. It includes 26 fossilized tree cross sections, varying
in size from 8 inches in diameter to over 40, some of which
date back millions of years. The exhibit will be on display
through August 27, 2007.

Ancient Microworlds
Ancient Microworlds unites the worlds
of photography and paleontology to produce rarely seen visions
into past life. Through the use of high-magnification photography,
these images allow a an amazing view into the world of fossils.
The exhibit runs through August 27, 2007.

April 21-28 is "Week of the Child" so all kids under

The Wacoan presented the Mayborn with a 2nd place award for Best
