MARCH MADNESS AT THE MAYBORN - SPRING BREAK FUN ALL WEEK LONG!

bug's life

Celebrate Spring Break with an exciting day of bug-themed fun on Thursday, March 15. We will show "A Bug's Life movie, offer an optional lunch or dinner, and provide you the chance to get up close and personal with insects from the museum’s permanent collections.

Tailor your visit by choosing from one of three movie times for "A Bug's Life." The show times are 10:30 l 1:30 l 6:30 in the SBC Theatre. This 1 ½ hour long Disney animated movie is the winner of multiple awards and is a delightful story about a misfit ant, looking for warriors to save his colony from grasshoppers, recruits a group of bugs that turn out to be an inept circus troop.

Did you know that one out of every four animals in the world is a beetle? Is there a difference between a butterfly and a moth? A member of our collections staff will be on hand to answer your questions and ask you questions about the bugs in the movie. He will be in the Rotunda at noon and again at 5:30 p.m. We will have some preserved bugs from the Mayborn's permanent collection as well as some LIVE bugs such as an African Giant Black Millipede, Grain beetles, and a Chilean Rose Tarantula.

Make it a full day of fun by purchasing lunch or dinner! Lunch will be served at noon and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., both in the upper café. We will offer a delicious salad & pizza buffet, which includes cheese and pepperoni pizza and water, tea, or lemonade.

Ciarin Boardman visited the museum in February. He told us, "My favorite part of the museum was walking over the mammoth bones. It was cool!"
Gracie Weaver of Waco says, "I like to play in the cars and with the mailbox because you can put mail in the front and take it out of the other side. I like the guinea pigs because they're pretty. I even got to touch a turtle! I would tell my friends to come to the museum because it's fun and exciting."
