Sensational Saturday: Song and Dance
January 13th from 10:00 to 4:00
A fun-filled day of music is in store on Saturday, January
13th at the Mayborn Museum Complex. Kids will have a great
time seeing hula dancers, learning folk songs, hearing children’s
songwriter/musician Joe McDermott, and making their own music
at craft time.
The day kicks off at 10:30am as music teacher Marti Koch
entertains all with her folk songs in Kid’s Corner.
Marti will play again at 12:30pm and at 3:30pm so you will
have plenty of chances to catch one of her shows!
Come to the “People of the World Room” to see
a group of dancers demonstrate the famous hula! They will
perform three shows as well so stop by at 12:00pm, 3:00pm
or 4:00pm for this crowd pleasing event.
Parents’
Choice Award winner Joe McDermott will be performing two shows
in the Thomas E. and Emilyne Weed Anding Traveling Exhibit
Hall filled with his imaginative, award-winning music. The
first performance is scheduled for 11:00am and the second
will begin at 2:00pm. This promises to be a fun experience
for parents and children alike, so make sure to be in the
audience to hear this nationally recognized performer.
All this great music and dance will inspire the kids to experiment
with sounds of their own. Visit the upstairs hallway to play
with sound tubes, shakers, and bells. They can also make musical
instruments like the Clucking Chicken and the Straw Whistle.
Remember to bring your camera and make memories of this fun
day with your child.
