Binge Drinking and Teens Dying After Drinking Game
Binge drinking can be dangerous no matter what your age, but for teens, the risks increase. Since the teenage brain is still growing and developing, it is more easily damaged by large amounts of alcohol; binge drinking can be the perfect way to destroy developing brain cells. Almost two-thirds of teens admit to binge drinking. That's two out of every three adolescents who is downing 5 or more drinks in a row (the definition of binge drinking in the US ). Many people assume that binge drinking means drinking over a long period of time, but it also refers to tossing back several drinks in a short amount of time. Teens who binge drink tend to have a lot of problems due to the amount of alcohol in their system. Here are some of the more common issues binge drinkers face: - Alcohol poisoning: Not everyone who binge drinks gets alcohol poisoning, but it affects teens more than anyone else. Alcohol is rapidly absorbed through the stomach lining and drinking too much too fast can be fatal as many have found out.
- Depression in adulthood: A recent study reveals that an alcohol-filled adolescence could lead to depression in adult life.
- Lack of concentration in school: This often leads to bad grades or even dropping out, something that will affect the quality of jobs a person can get and their perception of the world.
- Lack of judgment: Unfortunately, many teens that are binge drinking make other bad decisions, like getting behind the wheel of a car or sleeping with someone without protection. In best case scenarios, they have an embarrassing story to live down, worst case, they end up dead.
- Loss of friends: Alcohol binges can drastically change someone's personality and their friends will drift away. We all need support and a real friend is far more useful than a bottle of tequila.
- Memory loss and blackouts: This is quite common during drinking episodes, but it can happen afterward too, when the person is sober.
- Suicide: Drinking boosts the suicide rate nearly 3 times by interacting with existing conditions like depression and making them worse . . . so much so that the teen feels the only way out is to kill themselves.
- Trouble with the law: Underage drinking can not only cause personal problems, it can also get teens in trouble with the police. Drinking and driving can get your license suspended or worse.
While binge drinking isn't a good idea at any time, there are certain circumstances where it is far more lethal. It's easy to get caught up in chugging beer at a party or taking a dare from a friend to down an entire bottle of Schnapps, but these are exactly what kill teen binge drinkers every year. Most teens who die from an alcohol overdose are labeled as an accidental death or a choking victim (usually on their own vomit), but the truth is far worse. They drank so much alcohol that it actually stopped their organs from working and they passed out and died. Many of them received absolutely no help because their friends assumed it was normal to pass out, when in reality, they were slowly dying. It's important to get help if you suspect someone is binge drinking. It could save their life. This is happening world wide. One out of 10 children ages 12 and 13 uses alcohol at least once a month. In a single year, 522 children under age 14 were arrested for driving while intoxicated, (113 of them were under 10 years old). 70 percent of all teenagers drink alcohol. 60 percent of all teen deaths in car accidents are alcohol-related. On average, it is estimated that more than 3,000 teenagers die every year as a result of injuries obtained during vehicular accidents attributed to driving under the influence. Several states have lowered the legally drunk Blood Alcohol limit to .08 from .10. There's nothing cute or funny about an intoxicated person getting behind the wheel. Not when someone with a Blood Alcohol level of .15 (about four to seven drinks per hour for the average teen) is 380 times more likely to die in a single vehicle crash than a sober person. Groin Punch Game, Punching Games, Sack Tapping, Slap-Punch Games, Sucker Punching Games, Teen Fight Clubs
Fight club videos are aplenty in the market. You can find all sorts, starting from protected boxing fights, kick boxing to one to one bare fisted fights. But one very alarming prospect is the number of teen videos, some as young as 11 to 12 years old fight clubs, swearing and kicking each other like mad! Yes these types of illegal and violent teen fight clubs are around everywhere, all going heatedly behind the backs of their parents and authorities. Police forces have in fact arrested many of the teens involved in illegal fight clubs, and the videos that they have collected through these arrests show how violent they can get and how much they crave these types of ugly fights. Videos show youngsters punching each other with bare knuckles outside the school yards. Like the movies, they even name their real-life fights videos, passing them one after another in secrecy. These extreme sports have cropped up every where and its fast catching up on the teens. Authorities in Alaska, New Jersey, Texas and Washington state have caught several teen fight rings operating for fun and yes, for profit too. These illegal, violent, not to mention bloody bouts pit boys and girls to have fist to fist combat. Well this is not all. These staged fights are recorded by the ring leaders with video or cell cameras, and then peddle homemade DVDs on the Internet or posted on popular teen websites. All these violent videos are no fake ones; they are real. The videos comprise of bare-knuckle boxing matches to rough gang assaults where the teens stomp powerless victims who are clearly not ready to fight. They are very savage and callous, and the lack of morality is rampant! Well not only this, many of these teens involved in the illegal underground fight clubs are not juvenile criminals but simple suburban high school kids. Teens organize the fights, at times handing out fliers advertising them. The young audience pays the admission fee and starts the fight, videotaping all these. And yes, all these are happening not only in the poor neighborhoods but everywhere. These kids are not content with just the violent video games; no they long for the REAL fights! These fantasies of violence and danger to life are offered by the fight clubs, and here they can become a star overnight through the secretive video! Many of these violent videos are taped even in broad day light where punching, kicking and stomping each other vigorously are the aim. These teens are also even more excited as its illegal and the criminal side to it makes them go for these fight club even more without realizing the consequences. In these videos you will see plenty of teens cheering on the fighters, snapping pictures, with scattered schoolbooks on the lawns. Some are even taped knocked unconscious, injured youngsters dragged out leaving bloody smears on curbs. Some also pay teens a few bucks to fight or attack others which are all filmed eagerly. These violent and destructive videos of teens engaged in fight clubs are ever on the rise, and the bloody scenes in the movies are brought to reality. And though most won't admit it unless they have to, more teen boys are being treated after cringe-worthy attacks in which they're slapped or punched in the groin, sometimes causing serious harm requiring surgery. An MSNBC poll of 100 urologists, conducted by Truth On Call, showed that 30 percent of the doctors had seen or treated pre-teen and teen boys for testicular trauma in the past year, including severe injuries caused by so-called "sack-tapping," in which boys ambush others at school and elsewhere. Bruises, blood clots, testicular torsion - in which the organ twists up to 360 degrees - and, more rarely, testicular rupture, all are consequences of blunt force trauma to the testicles, including injuries caused by close-range punches. Nearly 8,000 boys and young men ages 10 to 20 were treated for pubic region injuries in the nation's emergency rooms last year, according to estimates from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. That's up from about 7,300 injuries in 2008 and about 5,500 in 2007. A growing number have been caused by so-called games known variously as "sack-tapping," "nut tag," or "Roshambo," after a 1998 episode of the animated series "South Park" that popularized the painful practice. Most young victims don't want to admit they've participated, willingly or not. It's hard to believe someone would think it's fun to see how much pain someone could take from something like this. Doctors and anti-bullying advocates say the recent rise in viral media outlets means that behaviors that were once confined to a certain school or region now spread quickly through online videos and news stories. Dozens of home videos posted to YouTube, for instance, chronicle groin-punch incidents. Publicizing the behavior can exacerbate the problem. No matter what playful names are used to describe this, it is sexual assault with the potential to do serious harm. Parents, school officials and community members must become aware of the problem so that they can stop it. You need to tell children, "Don't let anybody hit you there; if they do, let me know." Signs of testicular injury include severe pain, nausea, vomiting and difficulty walking. Pain can last days or weeks without treatment. Testicular torsion and testicular rupture must be treated immediately, within hours, to have any hope of salvaging the organ. When you look at everything in our society, when you look at the reality TV shows, you seen an escalation of nastiness. Our kids are only a reflection of our society. Depression, Facebook and Risks for Teens
Have you ever glanced through your Facebook news feed, only to feel empty, ugly, and lonely by the end of it? Have you fallen victim to "Facebook depression"?
Individuals can create an entirely new life online, full of perfect relationships, perfectly-styled photos, and more. While the internet can do so much good, it also brings new challenges, especially to today's youth who now not only have to worry about their real lives, but their appearances online and what news they may learn as well. Some teens feel they don't measure up, warns American Academy of Pediatrics. Facebook can make some kids feel worse about themselves if they don't measure up to the seemingly good times their friends are having in their happy-looking photos and status updates. It can be more painful than sitting alone in a crowded school cafeteria or other real-life encounters.
Parents shouldn't get the idea that using Facebook "is going to somehow infect their kids with depression.
The American Academy of Pediatrics social media guidelines, published online in the journal Pediatrics, encourage pediatricians to encourage parents to talk with their kids about online use and to be aware of Facebook depression, cyberbullying, sexting and other risks. Teenagers with depression do not exhibit the same behavior as adults with depression and the difficulty for many parents is that much of the behavior that is diagnostically attributed to teenage depression, are the behaviors that most parents experience with all teens at some stage. Social media Web sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, have become nearly inescapable facets of modern life, particularly for kids. These sites, and virtual gaming worlds, allow users to interact with each other and they are where children and adolescents are spending a lot, if not most, of their free time.
So, what kind of an impact is all that time spent fraternizing over technology instead of in person having on today's youth? Younger children may try to lie about their age to get on to sites, like Facebook, that have strict age limits. Children are hardwired to experiment and push boundaries. Today's technology may just make that easier. Kids have always wanted to look at nude pictures, and today, taking and sending a picture can be done in a second. We need more technology infrastructure, and pediatricians need to be ready to intervene and help educate young people and their parents on how to be more media literate, and how they can evaluate the types of things they're exposed to. Teen Depression is becoming more common as time continues, and is a serious health problem.
Teen Depression can lead to worse or even deadly consequences. Once a young person has been diagnosed with teen depression, help is available. The teen years can be quite turbulent, and it's normal for a teen to feel down sometimes. Modern adolescents are coping with the changes that occur once they hit puberty, as well as try to navigate through trying to figure out who they are, and what type of career they want to have as adults. In addition, teens deal with high school pressures, including schoolwork, trying to fit in with their peers, and dating. With all the changes going in in their bodies and around them, it's no wonder that a teen can go through some major changes in mood.
A blue mood that sticks around for more than a couple of weeks is not just someone feeling sad; it could be a sign of depression and it needs to be treated just like any other medical condition. Adolescent depression treatment can be effective, but the person who is feeling depressed may not know how to ask for help.
If you know a young person who seems to be more down than usual or who isn't showing his or her usual enthusiasm for things they used to enjoy, it's time to make an appointment to see a doctor. If it turns out that the young person is depressed, reassure them that this condition is treatable and they will get better.
It will take some time, but with proper treatment, the young person will start to have a more positive outlook

Deadly Anorexia Killing Teens in America Everyday - Dying to be Thin
An estimated one thousand women die each year from anorexia nervosa. One of the most deadly vicious eating disorder is the anorexia that is more frequent in females than males and is estimated to be about 1% of all teenage girls have this disorder, and that out of that 1%, up to 10% may die from it. The individual with this disorder believes they are obese or overweight and have a very poor self-image of themselves. In an attempt to quickly lose weight by whatever means necessary, people with anorexia have been known to starve themselves, take laxatives in order to expel food from the body, and it many cases extreme amounts of exercise. Any of these three are enough to take a terrible toll on the body. Don't confuse anorexia with bulimia. Anorexia is when a person refuses to eat (or eats very little). Bulimia is when a person consumes large amounts of food (binging) and then forces themselves to vomit in back up (purging). Both stem from an incredibly poor image of self and the person thinking or feeling extremely overweight, but they are very different diseases. When you think someone might have a problem with anorexia, here are some short term signs to look for: - Extreme weight loss over a short period of time
- Unwilling to eat in front of others
- Anxiety, Constant Fatigue
- Unusual concern about calorie intake
- For women only: 3 consecutively missed menstrual cycles
Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are both serious eating disorders. They are psychiatric illnesses that affect more than five million Americans - and that's both men and women! If this figure doesn't startle you, then listen to this - thousands of these five million people will die from the physical problems resulting from these conditions. Eating disorders aren't limited to the extremes of anorexia and bulimia. They also include binge eating and dangerous fad dieting. In a culture where thin is in, nearly every American woman, man and child has suffered at one time or another from issues of weight, body shape and self-image. It's not just fashion anymore parents - it's life and death. Anorexia can cause serious damage to your child's body: - Bone mineral loss, which can lead to osteoporosis
- Death
- Irregular heartbeat, which can lead to cardiac arrest
- Low body temperature
- Low body temperature
- Shrunken organs
- Slowed metabolism and reflexes
One of the biggest misconceptions is that parents cause eating disorders. They don't! Families and parents don't cause eating disorders, but if they are extremely health conscious or appearance focused, it can contribute to the development of an eating disorder. It's important to focus on the inside, not the outside. It's who children are, not what they are. Catwalk girl, 18, dies six months after her model sister starved herself to death Famous people who have DIED from Eating Disorders Miranda almost died from anorexia. She is 8 years old What person with a mental illness is going to seek help for themselves?
