Confessions from the Office!
In all of the business building efforts we've conducted recently, I've had the opportunity to chat with some of our very long-term clients. Hearing their feedback reminded me that the experience, environment and ambiance are just as important as the training we provide. In the interest of transparency and also because I believe that stating my intentions helps propel them forward, I would like to share how I see the future of this studio.

First, we are by definition a dedicated Pilates studio, meaning that our core business will always focus on Personalized training in one-on-one or duet sessions.  Using all of the Pilates equipment and material to address specific body needs and goals is what each of us has trained extensively to do.  No matter what direction the studio goes, personal training will always be at the center of it.  Real Pilates is meant to support your real life - so whatever you do, we know that Pilates will make you better at it. 

Second, our group classes are intended to provide the same "spring-driven" training  from our signature sessions for small groups. I never want to run a Pilates mill or factory. I believe more attention is better and I'm sticking with that plan!

Most of our plans are now centered on Community.  Our new retail is an opportunity for us to bring in trunk shows, and create new branded looks. Look for specialty classes, and workshops created specifically from your requests! We are also thrilled to be able to offer the same amazing teachers you know and love in a variety of new mediums from massage to Reiki, to Meridian Resistance Stretching and more. 

My personal studies in Nutrition are certainly going to come into play down the road but for now I am soaking up every bit of information I can from our resident Nutritionist Amy Shapiro who is also available to each of you. 

Please know that I am as dedicated and passionate about Real Pilates as I was when I marched down to the County Clerks office to file a business certificate in 1995. I am physically at the studio each and every day whether I am behind the wall in my office or out on the floor.  I look forward to connecting with all of you as we continue to grow and develop - both inside and out!

Zane Rankin has recently joined the Real Pilates team, bringing with him years of experience and an especially unique background and skillset. In Zane's 20 years as a certified Pilates instructor, his pure approach to the Pilates method has helped people of all ages and physical capability to become fit, maintain flexibility, tone muscles and most important, strengthen the core.

A native of Pittsburgh, Zane moved to New York City as a young dancer training until his professional career took him on tour both nationally and internationally with dance companies as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Realizing its benefits early in his career, he studied Pilates at the original Pilates Studio in New York under Romana Kryzanowska, Joseph Pilates' protégé, giving him the elite designation as a second-generation instructor.

After 12 years in New York, Zane joined the cast of CATS in Vienna, Austria. While there, he opened his first private Pilates studio and was quickly drafted to join the faculty at the prestigious Vienna Performing Arts Studio, teaching ballet and Pilates. His European performances included La Cage Aux Folles, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Elizabeth, and Into the Woods as well as film and television appearances.

His lifelong accomplishments as a dancer in classical ballet, modern dance and
musicals coupled with 34 years of private Pilates practice and instruction give him a
unique perspective on teaching the Pilates method.

Recipe

Almond Milk Chai Tea Latte - Serves 1
Ingredients:
1 cup organic unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I use Pacific brand)
1 Chai tea bag, decaf or regular (I use Tazo brand)
1/2 packet Stevia
Few shakes of cinnamon

 

Directions: 

Heat almond milk in a sauce pan until it is just about to boil.  Add tea bag and let steep for 2 minutes, remove.  Pour into mug, add stevia, sprinkle with cinnamon.  And that's it!  Enjoy!

 

Nutrition Facts: 40 Calories, 2.5 g Fat, 2g Carbs, 1 g Protein, 0g Sugar
