Greetings!
This month's newsletter is focused on time, because for the past few weeks, I've been poignantly reminded that LIFE IS SHORT.
Although I'm talking about being in the moment in the context of work, I'm also going to remind you that in your personal life, it's important to be in the moment as well.
In this newsletter, you will find some tips and techniques to help you BE IN THE MOMENT. Use them. Share them with your friends, co-workers, and family. Commit to yourself to be in the moment. You won't regret it.
I want to wish each of you a Merry Christmas; but if you don't celebrate that holiday, I wish you a joyous holiday season. My hope is that your new year is full of new days, and that you will use each one as a new start.
P.S. Are you writing a newsletter and need some "snippets" of information? You are welcome to quote anything in this e-zine, provided you give appropriate credit.

BE IN THE MOMENT
For the past few weeks, I have been painfully reminded that life is short. It's easy to think of time as a renewable resource, because we continually seem to get a new supply of time. If you take nothing away from this month's newsletter, I want you to remember this:
If you waste your money,
you can always earn more
but once you waste your time,
it's gone forever.

TECHNIQUES TO BE IN THE MOMENT
Vibrate isn't good enough: Fundamentally, I don't see any difference in setting your phone to 'vibrate' and keeping the ringer on. When you're in a meeting, BE in the meeting. When you're with someone, BE with them. When you're home, BE with your family.
Look people in the eye: All too often, we talk AT people, rather than TO them. One way to overcome this is to be sure that you are truly looking at the person to whom you are talking. One study showed that parents only look their children in the eye when they are talking to them 25% of the time!
Use your tools: Nothing reveals your inability to manage your time well than your failure to use your technology tools. Why would you answer a phone and tell someone you're in a meeting and will return their call later, when your voicemail is DESIGNED to take calls when you're unavailable? Why should your time be owned by your email's bells and whistles when you could turn them off and check email on YOUR schedule? Use your tools!
