It's that time of year! It's time to get your children ready for another school year.
Has your child had a back to school physical? Did you know that immunizations are NOT mandatory in Michigan. Gather all the information you need before making any decisions about whether or not to immunize your child.
In Michigan, the law states (MCLA § 333.9215, entitled "exemptions"): A child is exempt from this part if a parent, guardian or person in loco parentis of a child presents a written statement to the administrator of the child's school or operator of the group program to the effect that the requirements of this part cannot be met because of religious convictions or other objections to immunizations.
As long as the law remains intact, your child may attend school in Michigan with all, some, or no vaccinations.
Many people choose not to vaccinate their children because we deserve the right to make our own health care decisions.
Other reasons might be:
Conflicts with religious beliefs.
Concern about the lack of research on adverse reactions.
Desire to use alternative medicine.
Concern that doctors downplay the risks involved.
Beliefs that factors other than vaccines have reduced disease.
Personal experience with adverse vaccine reactions.
Allergies to the compounds used to grow vaccines.
You can request a waiver from your school system to sign stating you do not want your child to be vaccinated. Waivers are also available on line. Go to:
Michigan Vaccination Waiver. For more information on vaccines go to:
Michigan Opposing Mandatory Vaccines.
There is also a great deal of talk at this time of year about getting your flu shot. This video
The Flu Shot Exposed shows what happens to cells in the body when they are exposed to mercury (a preservative in many immunizations).
Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Shannon at the Nutritional Healing Center of Ann Arbor can help you and your child improve your health by helping your immune system to function at its best.
