Greetings!
In our practice we see a lot of misinformation that people have that hurts their health. The information comes primarily from marketers. Marketers assume the guise of authority. Especially if it is on TV! For some reason unknown to me, many in our society think that if it's on TV it must be true. I used to believe it myself.
Instead of listening to authority on health, (I'm only talking about health here, not law or family matters) please look for results. Authority and results are sometimes opposites! The following are a few examples.
*Authority (marketing) says that oatmeal is good for the heart. We find that people who eat oatmeal everyday get the result of hypoglycemia and trouble losing weight. That is not good for the heart.
*Authority (marketing) says that if you have heartburn, take a medication to reduce stomach acid. We see the result of this is not a true fix; and, sometimes the exact opposite of what a person may need.
*Authority (marketing) says bread is the basis of the food pyramid. We see the result of eating bread often is a significant loss of health.
*Authority (marketing) says soy is good for you. We see the results are gas, weight gain, and hormonal imbalance.
*Authority (marketing) says an ever-increasing number of Americans need to take a cholesterol drug to decrease their risk of a heart attack. The result is actually a decrease of heart attack risk somewhere around zero percent. Very low results. Frankly, not worth the money.
*And lastly, there has been marketing on high fructose corn syrup. Do I need to get into that? This and other forms of bad sugar and wheat products are the main cause of heart disease.
You have to find the right teachers and resources and ignore the resources that are not true for you! We are here to help you weed through the false data that surrounds this subject.
Results are more important than authority.
If you can implement this concept, watch out! You will be labeled a "free thinker" or an independent thinker. Whoooah! Be careful. You might change and this will scare some people. "Why won't you help me finish the french fries? You always help me finish the french fries. Who are you? Why are you so different? Have you been thinking freely again?"
Keep thinking freely.
Sincerely,
Darren Schmidt, D.C.
