LTCC President's Message

Those of you who have attended a California PTA Convention know first hand the tremendous benefit your unit received from your participation.  Through informative workshops, inspiring speakers, and the chance to network with other PTA leaders from throughout the State, the Convention helps you build a stronger PTA for parents, teachers, and students.  Whether you're new to PTA or a veteran looking for new ideas and more information, you'll be glad you went.

This year the Convention will be held in Long Beach from April 28 through May 1.  Remember to elect your delegates in advance so that they can vote at the General Meetings. For more information and to register, go to http://www.capta.org/sections/convention-2011/.

Thank you for all you do!

Honorary Service Awards

Honorary Service Awards (HSA) are available to recognize the service and dedication of both individuals and organizations. They may be awarded only by unit, council, district PTA and the California State PTA. Hopefully, your PTA/PTSA holds an event each year to recognize outstanding volunteers in your school and community.

It is time to consider nominees for LTCC's Honorary Service Award program. The purpose of the LTCC HSA is to recognize individuals who serve the larger community-beyond individual schools/units. If you would like to nominate someone whose contributions have positively impacted the youth throughout the LTCC area, please download the LTCC HSA Nomination Form or contact Kelly Mains, LTCC Historian, at kelly_mains@yahoo.com / (925) 215-1779. The deadline for nominations is March 11. To view a list of past recipients, click here.

The LTCC HSA awards will be presented at the annual Founders Day Luncheon on May 10, 2011.

LTCC Founders Day - Save the Date!

LTCC's Founders Day Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Lafayette Veteran's Memorial Building. Note the change in venue this year! We are working hard to put some new twists on this annual luncheon.

Traditionally, each school is represented by the current PTA/PTSA president, incoming PTA/PTSA president and the school principal, but certainly other PTA/PTSA board members and school site leadership are welcome. Other attendees usually include superintendents, governing board members, 32nd District leaders, and CCC Office of Education representatives. Not only do we celebrate the successes of LTCC, but we present high school seniors with scholarships and outstanding volunteers are recognized with the Honorary Service Award program (see article above!).

More information will be available soon, so reserve May 10th now since May is a busy month for schools!
