EWS ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MS Athlete of The Week - Ashley Doctor

Ashley was chosen as EWS Ashley DoctorMiddle School Athlete of the Week for her outstanding all-around play on the court, willingness to play a position that she doesn't normally play and for playing it extremely well! She made a huge difference in the game against St. Mark's and Fort Bend Christian because of her consistency and smart court sense. She really brought her "A" game this last week and it showed.

Mara KushnerMara was chosen as EWS High School Athlete of The Week for her attitude and overall effort as a first year runner on the Cross-Country team. She has improved every meet, and has taken over two and a half minutes off her 2 mile time in the last three weeks. She currently ranks in the top 20 times in District 4-4A.

VARSITY BASEBALL BIDS FAREWELL TO COACH JOHN HUDEK

John Hudek will be stepping down from his position as Head Varsity Baseball Coach of the Emery Jaguars.   With twin daughters in high school - one who is a competitive cheerleader and one who plays travel and high school baseball - he will be spending more time with them as #1 fan and supportive dad in their academic and extra-curricular endeavors.  We truly thank Coach Hudek for the last two years of service he has given to our school and wish him and his family well in the future.

During the two years that Coach Hudek led the Coach Hudek

Emery baseball program, the Jaguars racked up more district and non-district wins than in every previous season combined.  He oversaw the planning and building of the baseball batting cages and built or donated several training devices which bring added value and benefit to all of our spring sports teams. Coach Hudek also made significant strides in promoting EWS to media outlets and colleges so that any young man with aspirations to play college baseball would have that opportunity if they so desired.  He really helped to put the Emery baseball program on the map.

Coach AdamsCoach Adrian Adams (Assistant Varsity Baseball, Head Varsity Football, Assistant Athletic Director) will be taking over the reigns as Head Varsity Baseball Coach for the 2012-13 season.  He played middle infield at Prairie View A&M and brings with him over 10 years of baseball coaching experience at the college and high school levels.  As many of you already know, Coach Adams is great coach, mentor and role model for the young men of Emery.  We couldn't be more pleased to have him coaching in this capacity and we hope you will join us in welcoming him into this new role.

Additionally, Coach Dado Rodriguez will continue to head coach in our middle school baseball program but he will also be more involved in the high school baseball program next year.  He brings many years of coaching and playing experience to Emery as a leader and coach in one of the most respected and successful travel baseball teams in the city.  This will be his third year as an Emery baseball coach.
