FIRST GAME...FIRST WIN:
EWS MIDDLE FOOTBALL WINS INAUGURAL GAME
#34 Lewis Graubart, #8 Garrett Glover, and #52 Matthew Kronowitz zone in a Logos Prep ball carrier in EWS's first Middle School Football game Thursday, September 6th, 2012.
For the first time in history, an EWS MS Football team hit the gridiron last Thursday. After a slow start offensively, the Jags managed two touchdowns in the first half. The second of which was on the last play of the first half. Jordan Loev, a 7th grader, took the pitch on a running play and scampered his way for a big score before the break. David Kleban, a team captain, led the offense at quarterback. His leadership helped the team down field each drive. His arm also provided a touchdown pass to Evan Sack in the 4th quarter. Loev, Brandon Roseman, and Coby Lowenstein led the running game for the Jags. The team will count on that trio, with Kleban, for a lot of carries throughout the season. Lowenstein also plays quarterback in certain situations and he found the center, Kyle Stein, on a deep passing route in the second half of the game.
The defense may have been the story of the game, though. Team Captain, Lewis Graubart, led the team on defense. The Jag defense held Logos Prep scoreless until late in the 2nd half. Graubart, Jonathan Cohen, Michael Talisman, and Matthew Kronowitz provided a very stingy middle defense. Grant Schneider, Lowenstein, and Sack kept the opposing offense caged in down field and from the perimeter. The Jaguars won the game 40-13, bringing their record to a historical mark of 1-0. Make plans to be at the team's next home game on September 29th, at 5 PM.
