Greetings!

Online customer reviews can impact search engine rankings, particularly for small businesses is less competitive markets. This week we look at the mechanics of creating a review on Google. It's really easy -- encourage all of your good customers to do this.

In the future, we'll look at how to get more customer reviews, and where those reviews should go besides Google.

This week's content was inspired by Ruth Durow, owner of CleanNBright in Prescott, AZ. Thanks, Ruth!
To write a review, simply go to Google maps at www.google.com/maps/ and type in the business name, city and state.

Building an email list

Up comes a map with the business located on it. In the left column, find the business, and click on the link that says "Write a review".

Building an email list

Complete the review with Title a Star Rating and Review. Be sure to click Save. Note that it may take up to a day for the review to show up on your Google business listing.

Google local business review

Encourage all your good customers to write a review for you.

Got a bad review? Contact the customer and see what you can do to make things right. It's rare that business owners take this extra step. . . but if done right,  it's the difference between losing a customer and keeping a customer for life! Once they're delighted again with your product or service, have them post another review about how you took care of their problem. Wouldn't YOU like to shop at businesses that took care of problems when they come up?  ;)
