Reflections on Spring
Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!" ~ Robin Williams
Spring is my absolute favorite time of year. Everything feels new and life is blooming with color and new opportunities. This is a great time to reconnect with Nature and enjoy our abundant sunshine! It's also the perfect time for not only dusting the cobwebs from our homes, but cleansing our bodies and renewing our commitment to ourselves. Take a moment to enjoy my Springtime News -- it's about new beginnings, cleansing, green tea, a great new find and lovely thoughts to ponder.

Spring Cleaning Spring is the perfect time to give our bodies a good cleansing. Don't be intimidated -- there are many ways to detoxify and several levels of cleansing. Choose what feels best to you. The easiest, and often most effective, is to just merely SIMPLIFY. Here are a few tips that make cleansing easy. For more, see my new E-Book Cleanse Your Way to Health, Beauty and Longevity:
- At age 93, Jack LaLanne says "If man makes it, I don't eat it." Greatest advice I've ever heard. Just by cutting out ALL processed foods, you are giving your body a break from the multitude of chemicals used in the manufacturing of what we eat out of wrappers, cans, boxes and jars. Stick with foods that come without ingredient labels -- lots of fresh, organic vegetables, fruits, raw nuts and seeds, and a little organically raised meats, eggs and wild caught fish. Nourish your body with pure, authentic, unadulterated food as Nature intended.
- Do not eat sugar or artificial (i.e. chemical) sweeteners. Use stevia, raw honey or fresh fruit instead.
- Go organic. By eating organic, you are not ingesting toxic pesticides that put a heavy burden on your body's natural detoxification system. Remember, pesticides are designed to kill living creatures, and human beings are living creatures!
- Give your skin care products and cleaning products for your home a spring clean, too. You don't want them to contain toxic chemicals, either. See how yours rate by going to www.CosmeticDatabase.com Look for products that have the lowest toxic rating. (Check out the natural deodorant below.)
- Drink half of your weight in ounces of pure, clean water every day. Water helps to flush toxins from our bodies. Drink up.
- Exercise. I mean it. Our bodies were meant to move -- every day. Walk, run, dance, garden, bounce on a rebounder (great to move lymph fluids), practice Tai Chi or yoga -- and do it daily.
- Sweat. Sweating is another way for toxins to leave our bodies. Sweat during exercise, sweat in a hot Epsom salt bath, sweat in a dry (or better yet, infrared) sauna. Don't be afraid to SWEAT.
- Be aware of the energy that fills you -- your foods, the company you keep, your thoughts and beliefs. Find ways to fill yourself with joy, love and vibrant energy.
Spring is a time of rebirth and regeneration in nature, and your body (and spirit) is naturally attuned to this. In line with the season, now is the ideal time for you to begin anew ... to blossom in your commitment to your own health and well being.
If you need guidance with a customized cleanse unique to your needs, call me to schedule an appointment. Also, now is a great time to receive a seasonal acupuncture treatment to replenish your energy to heal, prevent illness, ease stress and feel balanced. Call me today (831) 886-5750. |

Green Tea Magic
I am a huge fan of green tea! Next to pure water, drinking green tea from 100% quality tea leaves might be one of the most nutritious beverages you can consume.
I've recently found a delicious Japanese green tea that is a must-try. It's called Fukamushi Sencha Maki. It makes an amazingly beautiful emerald cup of sweet, bold green tea, loaded with antioxidants and the all of the superior health benefits of green tea. To learn more about these benefits, listen to the archive of my Health Talk radio program on The Magic of Green Tea (archive #35).
Remember to keep the water temperature to around 160 degrees, not a full boil. Steep for only about 30 seconds. You can use the leaves for a second infusion, too!
I discovered Fukamushi Sencha Maki and many other wonderful Japanese Green Teas at the beautiful Cha-Ya in Monterey. Cha-ya is located at 118 Webster Street in downtown Monterey, near the post office. Mitsuko will greet you and help you learn all about the teas and how to brew them to make the most delicious and comforting cup. You'll find lots of wonderful treasures at Cha-ya. Enjoy! |
My Latest Find...
My dear patient, Danielle, recently turned me on to a GREAT deodorant that's 100% organic, paraben & aluminum free, propylene glycol free and completely chemical free! (Danielle read Wellness for Women!)
This great stuff is called, get ready for this...Pit Putty!
And it works.
It smells great and it is unlike any other deodorant I've ever tried. It won't clog pores or irritate the skin -- and it doesn't contain any of those nasty chemicals found in most other deodorants.
Ingredients: organic arrowroot powder, organic coconut oil, organic lime essential oil, organic geranium essential oil. That's it!
This stuff is amazing. I highly recommend. And no, I'm not being paid by the company to say that! (Darn!)
If you see any of these chemicals listed on your deodorant, it's time to throw it away and get some Pit Putty instead:
Propylene glycol
Aluminum chlorohydrate
Parabens
Fragrance
Triclosan
Diazolidinyl Urea
Ethylhexylglycerin
Triethanolamine (TEA)
Tetrasodium EDTA
Quaternium-15
Glycerl Larate
Pit Putty by Bumble and Bee Organics is awesome -- you'll love it. (Just make sure that you rub it in after applying!) They have lots of other natural products, too. Give them a try and let me know what you think. Thanks for the tip, Danielle!! | |
