Early bird for University of Scouting ends THIS Friday!
The University of Scouting is a one-day training event that offers workshops for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, Commissioner, and District Committee volunteers. The council training committee has assembled the best trainers in the council, and has selected a wide spectrum of individual workshops that will strengthen each volunteer's ability to deliver better Scouting for our youth. Save $5.00 by registering by Friday, January 13, 2012 for the early bird price of $25.00. After January 13, 2012 tuition will be $30 per attendee.

Program

 

Space Still Available for Youth and Adult!

Philmont Scout Ranch, located in Cimarron, New Mexico, is over 137,000 acres of challenging Scout high adventure. In 2012, 12 Scouts and Scouters from the Lincoln Heritage Council will have the opportunity to explore Philmont on a 12-day backpacking expedition!

 

WHO: All Scouts applying to participate must be 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and completed the 8th grade. Youth applications must be submitted with a $100 deposit.

 

WHEN: July 25-August 6 2012.

 

COST: $1,650. This fee will include all meals, transportation,

program fees and all tours along the way.

Scouts at the Capital Day!

 Scouts and Scout Leaders across the Commonwealth of Kentucky are cordially invited to BOY SCOUTS AT THE CAPITAL DAY  on Tuesday February 21st in Frankfort Kentucky. Our state capital is rolling out the red carpet for all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts Sea Scouts, Explorers and Tiger Cubs. You and your families are cordially invited to tour the Capital as we celebrate Boy Scouts at the Capital Day

 

Activities will run from 9am to 3pm with a Grand Assembly on the Capitol Steps at 11:30am Eastern time.

 

Activities are for all family members. They include... 

  • Self Guided Tours of the State Capitol Building by group or individuals
  • Governor's Mansion Tours 9am to noon, First come first serve.
  • See the House of Representatives Chambers (Group Photo opportunity)
  • See the Senate Chambers and the Supreme Court
  • Take the underground tunnel to visit with your Representative or Senator (must arrange with your legislator's office 502-564-8100)
  • Tour the History Mobile (which will be parked by the State Capitol Building)
  • Take the TROLLEY into Historic Downtown Frankfort and tour historic sites like The Old State Capitol Building, The Thomas D Clark Center for Kentucky History, Daniel Boone's Grave site, The Kentucky Military History Museum at the Kentucky Arsenal  (New this year)

Thirteen Scouters Honored with the Silver Beaver Award

 

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor a Council can bestow upon its volunteers for extraordinary service to the youth of our community. The National Court of Honor approves these Scouters who have given so much of their time, talent, and treasure to our movement.

 

The Lincoln Heritage Council is honored to announce the following recipients of this great honor for 2011:

Sign up for Camp Card Sale
The annual Camp Card sale is an opportunity for youth to earn money to pay for their summer camping fees and equipment by selling a value enhanced camp card. Each camp card contains discount offers from different vendors that are good during the 2012 calendar year.

The cards sell for $5.00 with the youth earning 50% commission or $2.50 on each card sold. The sale will conclude May 18, 2012.     

New this year, the Lincoln Heritage Council will offer two separate Camp Cards. There will be a card targeted to the Louisville Metro/Southern Indiana communities and a card that is more tailored to the Central Kentucky area of our council.
