The VBA-sponsored debate between the U.S. Senate candidates is less than two weeks away. We have the latest news involving the moderator.
Meantime, former U.S. Senator George Allen and former Chairman of the National Democratic Committee Tim Kaine are eager to hear VBA member questions at the debate. What topics do you hope they address? |
CNN's Candy Crowley to moderate debate |
An award-winning chief political correspondent for CNN, Candy Crowley covers a range of stories, including presidential, congressional and gubernatorial races and major legislative developments on Capitol Hill.
 | Crowley |
She also is anchor of "State of the Union with Candy Crowley,"a political hour of newsmaker interviews and analysis of the week's most important issues. Crowley took the reins of the program, which airs on Sundays at 9 a.m. and noon ET, in February 2010.
At 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, at The Homestead, Crowley will take the reins of the VBA debate between two former Virginia governors.
"We're absolutely thrilled to attract a national media representative - and someone of Ms. Crowley's caliber - to moderate," said VBA President Hugh M. Fain III. "This debate certainly will be one to attend, with Virginia's Senate seat among the most hotly contested in Congress this year."
All audience members must have a badge either from the VBA meeting or from the VBA Registration desk to gain admittance. The debate is open to the public at no charge, with walk-in registration. |
What debate questions should be asked? |
Here's your opportunity to contribute to the discussion. Virginia's U.S. Senate candidates want to address topics and issues of interest to VBA members and from attendees at the 122nd Summer Meeting.
Moderator Candy Crowley of CNN will determine which submitted questions to pose at the debate on July 21. |
VBA debate and CNN: Tell your friends |
"State of the Union" plans to run highlights from the VBA Summer Meeting debate in its program on Sunday, July 22. "State of the Union with Candy Crowley" airs Sundays at 9 a.m. and noon ET on CNN. |
