Zucchini Racing at Cowichan Exhibition!

As proud co-sponsors of the 2nd annual zucchini racing competition, PFLA was delighted to see the pimped up vegetables draw record breaking crowds.

Armed with a drill, some plywood, a few screws and a vision, the Bealing family was on hand to ensure PFLA's role as race day officials was fulfilled with the same high-caliber service the organization is known for.

 Happy race day winners!

September 2012

PFLA Private Forest Matters

Greetings!

Welcome to the September 2012 edition of PFLA's online newsletter! As autumn's coloured leaves, shorter days and cooler temperatures seep their way across the landscape, things are just heating up here at the PFLA.

We're anticipating another busy season advocating, promoting and spreading the good word about the valuable contributions managed forests make to BC's economy and communities.

You'll find information below about what we've been up to and what we've got planned. Thanks for reading!

The Private Managed Forest Land Council (PMFLC) is an independent agency established to administer the forest practices component of the Managed Forest Program. The PMFLC's newly elected chair, Rod Davis, gave a presentation at the PFLA Forestry Forum in June to update landowners on the activities of the PMFLC over the past year. Follow the link to view the complete PowerPoint presentation. [read more]...»

For those of you who missed the PFLA Forestry Forum this year, you may have heard about the engaging and informative presentation by Ernie Sellentin of the Coastal Invasive Plant Committee

With knowledge as prolific as blackberries in August, Ernie impressed the crowd with his expertise and understanding of local invasive plants and the problems they can cause. Follow the link to view Ernie's complete PowerPoint presentation. [read more]...»

Phew! PFLA is abuzz with excitement and energy percolating like fresh brewed coffee on a Sunday morning. We spent an action packed weekend at the 144th Annual Cowichan Exhibition connecting with families, elected officials, forest owners (large and small), community members and busloads of enthusiastic school kids. [read more]...»
