April 2012

PFLA Private Forest Matters

Greetings!

Spring is shaping up to be a busy time for the PFLA. We're wrapping up the final leg of the PFLA hometown tour, heading to the AVICC trade show in Ucluelet and then getting down to the business of planning and organizing this year's AGM.

You'll find more details about current PFLA happenings below. As always, thanks for taking the time to read through this edition of PFLA Private Forest Matters. We look forward to hearing from you!

Here it is: the next short, snappy video in a series of edited footage from a recent trip to a private managed forest on southern Vancouver Island. The video below shows Joey, another technician in this orchestra of well-trained harvesting engineers, operating a loader. read more...»

Out and About with the PFLA

PFLA was pleased to present our annual "Foresters of the Future" lecture series to a class of enthusiastic young forestry students at Vancouver Island University---- an excellent opportunity to educate about private managed forests in BC.

Look for the PFLA info booth at the Association of Vancouver
Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) 63rd AGM and convention, April 13-15, 2012, at the Ucluelet Community Centre, and the Black Rock Resort, in Ucluelet, BC.

Save the date! The 2012 Private Forest Landowners Association AGM and private forestry forum will be held June 20-21, 2012, at the Four Points by Sheraton, in
stunning Langford, BC. More details coming soon, but for now, mark your calendars!

Reminder: the last (but not least) meeting of the PFLA hometown tour happens Wednesday April 11, 2012 in Castlegar---- 11:30 at the Fireside Inn Hotel. Hope to see you there!

We're tickled pink with the hometown tour turnout, and gushingly grateful to all of you who took the time to join us for a meal and let us know what's important to you. As pumped as we are about our communication tools these days, nothing beats in-person, face-to-face conversation for understanding what matters to you.

Thanks again to everyone who came out. Your input makes a difference. We're impressed and inspired by the diversity of folks PFLA represents and we look forward to continuing the mission of positively representing, and advocating for, private forest landowners in BC ---- both men and women, from the coastal to the interior, from the large owner to the small, from the old (um...experienced) to the young, and everywhere in-between.

Sincerely,

Rod Bealing, Executive Director
