Austin Community College is hosting a college fair in conjunction with the groundbreaking celebration for the new Hays Campus. The event is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hays school district Performing Arts Center, 979 Kohlers Crossing.
The fair follows the groundbreaking and features ACC programs leading to careers in health sciences, business studies, hospitality management, computer studies and advanced technologies, fire protection technology, and arts and humanities. The fair also will provide information on financial aid, continuing education and early college start programs.
The celebration will feature refreshments and local entertainment. Parking for the event will be available at the Performing Arts Center and Hays High School, 4800 Jack C Hays Trail in Buda; shuttle service will be available.
The campus will be on 98 acres at Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Parkway. Construction begins this summer; it is scheduled to open in early 2014, in time for spring semester.
The three-story structure will offer core curriculum-transferable courses and career training in specialized business programs, computer networking and security, child development, first responder programs. Hays school district residents receive in-district tuition.
