Last day to RSVP! To RSVP, please e-mail info@kylechamber.org or purchase your seat online.

As our Member Monday feature this week, we present River City Ballet! The River City Ballet is a non-profit performing arts company focused on bringing the world of dance to the youth and community of San Marcos and its surrounding areas. "Under the guidance of nationally-recognized directors and teachers of RCB, young dancers are provided the support and tools they need to not only succeed in the dance world, but to find within themselves a sense of confidence and the value of hard work and dedication in their art. RCB's programs and performances are supported through dancer membership fees and contributions from the local community and arts foundations.

River City Ballet's mission is three-fold: provide community awareness for the arts, provide an atmosphere for those children interested to experience the world of a professional dancer, and provide performance opportunities for our youth. RCB produces two seasonal performances: a Christmas production highlighting seasonal favorites, and a spring program highlighting original choreographed pieces. Through the preparation of these productions, company members undergo an extensive program of company and master classes/rehearsals. RCB also provides scholarships to support company youth in their training."

VOCES Y MEMORIAS: The Rolando Hinojosa & Arturo Madrid Literary Celebration
This major symposium will feature readings by Hinojosa and Madrid from their new books, a discussion between the authors about the craft of writing from a minority perspective moderated by San Antonio's inaugural poet laureate, Carmen Tafolla, who will also act as a participant, and a book signing with all three esteemed authors. Books will be for sale at the event.
Rolando Hinojosa-Smith is the Ellen Clayton Garwood Professor of English at the University of Texas-Austin. A novelist, essayist, poet, and short-story writer from the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Hinojosa's work has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Premio Casa de las Americas and the Premio Quinto Sol Annual Prize. He is considered by many to be among the most important living Texas writers. In November 2011, Arte Publico press published a collection of Hinojosa's stories and essays, In My Own Voice: Stories and Essays, and a new edition of his novel Partners in Crime. Read more.
