Smokin' BASH
The award-winning Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce recently  hosted their monthly Ambassador's B.A.S.H. at Kyle's newest restaurant, Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Ambassador's B.A.S.H. stands for Business Advancement Social Hour and is a free networking opportunity for all members of the business community.
Chamber members, members of the Kyle Chamber board, and Ambassadors were in attendance for the event. Participants savored Dickey's delicious pulled pork hoagies with a side of cole slaw and beans. Texas Ritas served frozen margaritas and cold beer provided by Capital Beverage of Austin.
Dickey's co-owners, Chris Hooker and Trey Leggitt, assisted Ray Hernandez, Executive Director of the Kyle Chamber, with door prizes. Participants had a chance to win a variety of great door prizes-like dinner for two at the Inn Above Onion Creek, H-E-B gift cards, and much more.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in Kyle on October 25th to rave reviews. Dickey's believes that the success of a restaurant depends on quality food, recruiting the right owner-operators and providing an in-depth support system. The loyal patrons are what keeps Dickey's thriving in every community. Customers are wooed by the home-style flavor and family friendly atmosphere.

Texas, Austin exception to gloomy retail picture
Retail activity is fairly brisk in Texas - and sluggish virtually everywhere else.
The Austin and Houston markets are the only U.S. metropolitan areas that have added more than 1,000 jobs to their retail sectors since the beginning of the recession in 2007, according to data by The Business Journals' On Numbers, a division of American City Business Journals.
Austin ranked No. 2 for adding 1,500 retail jobs between 2007 and 2011. Houston took the top spot by adding 4,500. Read more.

Kyle Chamber hosts 10th Anniversary Gala
Our Gala Committee has been working diligently in preparing for a spectacular Gala. On February 11, 2012, the Kyle Chamber will be hosting their 10th Anniversary Gala at Texas Old Town. Texas Old Town's newest venue, Stone Hall, will be showcased at next year's Gala.
