Business Group Forms to Support Local Business
The Better Business for Hays Committee, a special purpose political action committee, has formed to ask voters to support updating the laws in Kyle and Buda regarding alcohol sales. The group consists of local residents, business and community leaders and is asking Buda and Kyle registered voters to sign a petition to call for an election next year. Each community must sign the petition calling for the election in their respective town. State law requires the group to collect approximately 650 signatures of Buda registered voters and 1500 signatures of Kyle registered voters. If enough signatures are gathered, the City Council of each community would order the election in each city for 2012.
The petition will allow a vote for the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages. Kyle area voters changed the laws in the 80's to allow limited alcohol sales. Buda area voters approved limited alcohol, beer and wine sales in 1998. Since that time, both communities have grown and the group believes both communities should have common rules governing alcohol sales to attract additional businesses to the area. Read more.
Personalized Library Pavers
Those who are making the new Kyle Public Library possible have the rare opportunity to memorialize your name, or the names of your family and friends, by purchasing a Kyle Library Paver. The pavers will be located at the library's entry courtyard on Scott and Meyer Streets.
For generations to come, these pavers and the names on them, will greet library visitors as a reminder of those who are a part of the history of the Kyle Public Library. Your name, family, friend, teacher, proud new high school graduate, or a business you have worked to build all have a place on this walk of history.
Each paver may have up to four lines with 12 letters per line. Each paver costs $100 and is tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Checks made out to "Friends of the Kyle Library" may be taken to the circulation desk at the Kyle Public Library. You will be mailed a receipt for your contribution. We accept checks or cash for the pavers at the library.
Please note that, if you want all capital letters on the paver, please print all capitals on the application form. If you want mixed case, please print capitals and small letters.
Please call the library at 512.268.7411 for more information.
